Default Photoshop Help

Well... It's 5:30 in the morning and for some strange reason all I can think about are those pictures you see that are all black and white except for one certain object that maintains it's original color. Don't ask me why but I've been awake since 2:00 thinking about it. If anyone can shed some light on how you do it I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance

~Dan~

I don't think that would be the best way to do it but I guess you could get it done that way.

The 2 ways I've done are copying the layer and making the background layer solid white and then erase everything but the object... then copy that layer and open the original picture, paste the cut-out object onto the original picture and set the background layer to black and white... so everything is black and white except the part you cut out.

The other way is similar but instead of erasing you use the mask tool to cut out the object which I don't like, it's not as accurate.

Its simple. Just takes patience if you want it to look nice.

Lasso tool > select object you want to stay normal > ctrl+c > ctrl+v ( that makes the object a new layer, so that you can do whatever you want to the origional pic and the new layer will stay ontop, if you want) > select origional layer > select B&W filter > Then add some cheezy blur and glistening effect that pyro likes to over do in his pics

I got bored and did another.

I wasnt sure if I should have made the whole windscreed black and white, or leave it color. I left it color. Im not sure it would have looked right in black and white.

Hard to say which would look better.. maybe 50/50 so it doesn't stand out so much

I would say try the masking technique...it's a little more in depth and you click a few more times, but it is worth it...you can also copy your background layer, select the area you want to stay colorized, hit ctl-i to invert the selection, then delete it...take the color out of your background and your all set...i think something with a busy background makes this effect look great...try copying the background and giving it some blurs or accents also...in the other (color) layer, adjust the brightness to where you think it stands out a lot...then give it a shadow or somethin to make it pop out...sweet effect! ill post one up when i get some time to play...
