Nice video but if the bike were along on the track, it would do better. That car weighs about 3,000lbs........I wouldn't want to get close to it at those speed either.

Neither the car nor the bike were anywhere close ot their full potential. I na fair fight, the stock R1 would beat the particular stock Porsche. A 911 Turbo would be on almost equal footing. Car and Driver did a much more fair comparison with a COrvette vs. a GSXR1000. It better illustrated the differences.

In an even comparison, a motorcycle will match or beat any car without downforce with less than 600-700HP. After that, cars start to pull ahead.

Example... at Infineon Raceway, the AMA Superbikes run 2-3 seconds slower than the Toruing cars which had significant ground effects and downforce and over 500HP. The GT1 cars are pushing 700-800HP I believe.

AMA Superbike - 1:36
Le Mans Series Porsche GT2 - 1:34
LE Mans Series Corvete GT1 - 1:30

It's staged... look up lap times at Thruxton. The R1 should go about 12 seconds faster than it did. The superbike record at that track is 1:15 and this R1 went 1:36. From a standing start it should go around 1:24 or so, and 1:21 or so on a normal lap. This suggests that it should beat that Porsche by about 12 seconds.

seriously, i just wish i knew what his gripe was about bikes. between this tape and the one he has for the ariel atom, he just despises bikes, and look for any reason to discount them. his commentary is always good for a laugh though

I would like to see it also. The guy in these videos is a f'n moron that clearly has something against bikes. I like the way he has a studio audience for the Atom at the end...what is this, some sort of info-mercial?? And remember, the 2.9 sec 0-60 for the Atom...that is 0-60 kph, they are in Britton and every other reference is to metric measurments. I don't find him funny or even amusing. I find him as a total dumb ass with intent to spred slander against our sport.

Default Here ya go!

This is the lambo vs 999 vid, pretty awesome, much more representative of what a bike can do. I found this site to upload the video.
