Smile My turn

Finally did my first track day. Here are some pictures. I will get more later on. These are the ones people have passed along to me.

I met OOBER (i think that's right) on this forum out there at the track. We were actually in the school together so it was pretty neat. He was a lot faster than me though I'm slow, I admit, but everyone has to start somewhere.

I changed out my tires to a 70 front and went with Pilot Powers. Let me tell ya, those things are AWESOME. Felt like a whole different bike. When it dipped into a turn it kinda freaked me out because I wasn't used to it on my stock Dunlop 208's but the second time I was like "HELL YEAH" haha I loved it. I'm addicted. VIR North is the place to be.

Oh and don't laugh at my Wu-Tang leathers. I ordered a suit and it came in all wrong. They got a few orders mixed up and I got the color/design of someone else's suit. But it worked for my track day so I wasn't worried about it too much.

I know I have a LOT to work on especially my body positioning but hey, it was my first time out on the track. I had a lot of information thrown at me and I did my best to try to take it all in and put it to good use. Next time though, I'll be in better shape.

Thanks. I posted this in the ladies section but I figured you guys would see it in here. Maybe give me some tips?

How should I put my feet on the pegs? I can't really work my right foot correctly because of my high mount exhaust. I kept draggin my toe slider in turn 1 like crazy and every time it would make the bike sorta pivot (spelling?).

Iluvmy929, if you want to do a track day next season I'll do one with you. Maybe we can find one in the middle. Maybe Kentucky? Always want to meet up with other female riders, especially ones that want to do track days. Aren't very many out there.

Not sure if you can with the high mount in the way but you need to put your toes on the peg not the middle of the boot:

yeah I did it a few different ways. My legs are burning today. lol that was a workout. I finally got one lean down right and it was on my very last session , go figure. I was holding on only by my right leg. It felt awesome and the bike felt more stable. I tried to put my face where my mirror would be and lean as far as I could. I love lefts, not so good with rights lol

Yeah a lot of people are the same way with preference to leaning in one direction. Have you dragged a knee yet? If you haven't yet, you're probably not hanging off as much as you think you are, or sticking your knee out as far as it feels like you are. Soon your confidence will build and you can start taking turns faster and when you drag knee for the first time it'll be the coolest feeling in the world

And make sure you order Twist of the Wrist 1 and 2 from overstock.com or wherever and read them over a few times, it'll help immensely.

as Pyro said the only thing i see that needs fixing is your foot placement. get on the ball of your foot as it allows you more mobility on the bike. as soon as you get onto the ball of your foot i promise the toe-dragging will stop, or be dramatically improved.

you're very upright on the bike and for me, that makes steering much harder. try pivoting your waist slightly around the tank as opposed to keeping your shoulders square. 'drop a shoulder' into the corner, or to make it easier hook the inside of your knee on the outside edge of the seat (such is why seats are shaped the way they are). in your middle picture above you've got the right idea.. just need to get your weight shifted farther to the inside of the corner and you'll be able to A. lean it farther, and B. steer easier. of course this is only what works for me and teaching riding style is like convincing a lefty that they're doing things backwards. hook up with someone faster than yourself and let them drag you around for a while, you'll learn lots.

and i believe you said above that you've got a hard time with rights, often this is due to people learning to ride their favorite twisty road, oncoming traffic is to the left and therefore people have a tendency to back off a little more for obvious reasons. track junkies have a hard time with rights due to american racing.. we generally have more left turns on our tracks than rights.
