Another vid that bums me out. What the fk is the matter with people these days? A gun fight between a combat vet and a cop. The cop loses.

That is sad but it could have been avoided.

Department rules or not,the first rule of a gun fight is,if someone pulls a gun and you are armed,you shoot to kill right then,right now,no "?'s" asked.

Sorry guys....this one chokes me up a little bit....I have more than my share of officers get killed on tape while in the performance of their duties...but here goes:

The deputy clocked the vehicle traveling 88 mph on the interstate. The deputy is part of his dept's I.C.E. Team, they troll for narcotics and such. Well the guy evaded him for a short distance and finally came to a dead end road. The deputy exited the car and kept a good reactionary gap between him and the suspect. On the video you see the guy start dancing and shit and he comes towards the deputy. The deputy wants him back and he continues to come at him and starts getting angry. The deput drew his ASP baton and actually struck him once in the thigh. The guy goes back to his truck and removes the Mini-14 from behind the seat of the truck and loads the mag. At this point the officer sees the gun and draws his and gives him the commands to drop the gun and such and retreats to the rear of his cruiser. At this point the rifle is still not pointed at him so he cannot fire yet (fucked up thing is we cannot fire until it is pointed at us but the suspect always gets the upperhand because he does the first action and we have to re-act to it). When the guy turns to fire the gunthe deputy is hidden behind the cruiser. The guy starts shooting under the car (when the bullets hit the pavement they glance off at a low trajectory and contiune down range under the cruiser) and hits the deputy multiple times in the lower legs as well as the pavement fragments being hitting the deputy as well. The deputy is returning fire as well from his Glock 22 .40 cal. The officer goes down behind the car to reload and the suspect charges around the car to finish him off and shoots the deputy twice in the back at point blank range. At this point the officer empties his last magazine at the suspect. The suspect retreats to the front of the truck and fires a couple of more shots and hits the deputy in the stomach. At this point the officer has fired all 38 rounds that he carried in 3 mags and is laying there being bleeding to death. The suspect, after a couple of seconds, goes to the rear of the car again and finishes the officer off. He calmly gets back in his truck and drives home.

When the deputy was found by other deputies they pulled the tape and saw what took place. They identified the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest and went to his residence where he was taken into custody without incident (plus the fact 2 SWAT teams hit the house at once). During the interview process he told the investigators that if the officer would have followed him to the truck and fought him then he would have given up and went to jail. At this point he blamed the officer and said if he would have done his job he would not have killed him. The suspect was a Vietnam Vet. and had no criminal history and at most would have gotten a speeding ticket.

This video (and many others showing officers killed in the line of duty) was required for us to watch at the academy as well as the background for each video. People bitch about why cops are so aggressive at times. This is a reason why we are like this. If I am to the point I have had to strike someone with an ASP baton and they try to get back to their car....don't be surprised if I am beating the hell out of them the whole way with that ASP. And if they make it to their car and reach inside....they will learn how fast I will drop their ass! I live by a pretty simple motto when it comes to my job: the bad guy his their option of one of four places they can go after the encounter...home, jail, hospital or morgue....it's their choice but I AM GOING HOME at the end of my shift.

Sorry everyone....when you see one of your own gunned down for no other reason than they are doing their job it bothers me a little.

i thought that if you warned them to put the gun down, and they don't that you can shoot them, the officer warned him quite a few times.
