That video was shot right here in Colorado Springs. That's the Penrose Equestrian Center- I was there that night, actually sitting in the bleachers visible in the video. Wow, that was like 2 years ago. It was the championship round of the Freestyle competition, before there was a backflip.
I remember that wreck very well, having seen it first hand. Old dude just came too far off the back and SPLAT.
He broke a leg on impact but was otherwise okay. Femur I believe. From my seat, I didn't get to see the actual impact, but it was on ESPN (over and over) for awhile.

Them guys ars not right. If we were meant to fly God would have gave us wings
If you want to see a very good account of the greatest kid ever in the sport use a p2p client and look for Travis Preatana "Revalations 99" That is a unreal vid on the kid and his family.
Thanks for the input Solly! Haha luckily I got off dirtbikes just as I was learning to "fly"
Cool sig, "You ate the Easter Bunny"? Thanks now I wont ever get to eat chocolate again LMAO
Dude, I got MUCH more injured on a MUCH smaller jump. You don't have to go big to wipe out, only screw up big.
That place hosts an annual Supercross event. My first year here I was deployed for the race, so I didn't get to compete.
Second year I broke my wrist practicing for that event.
Third year I trashed the bike a week before the race.
Then I got hurt and was unable to ride dirt ever again.
I was just not meant to race in the SX there. Cosmic.
I was sitting in the bleachers right about where the take off ramp was in that video.
Here's my former baby. The number represents my first unit in the Army, 3rd BN, 75th Ranger Rgt.

Nice Bike Solly, looks great without so much green!
I had a 92 Honda CR 500 I made into a dualsport on Kauai. Was the most fun thing I ever rode on the road.... indescribable. used to do these insane 150+ foot leaps over road crossings. Basicly the hiway would slowly elevate up to allow big cane haul trucks go under the highway. On the shoulder was a low aera since it didnt need to be a slow long rise (saved time n money on hauling dirt in) so the side was nice mowed grass with a sharp embankment the perfect launching pad to send yourself careening over a 2 lane wide heavy equipment road! Hit it at about 90 and OMG you would do a Evil Kenival style launch and if lucky would land softly on the down slope across the road crossing.
First time I tried it I dam near shit myself. After that it was fly like a bird at every road crossing Luckily I never ate it..... Saw a friend try it on a XR250 and come up short, casing it on the edge then get tossed over the bars and go for a serious maytag ride. Luckily he was young and resilliant only getting minor rash and a few briuses. His bike didnt fare so wall bent the frame and snapped off the bars on the right side.
That made me decide I didnt need to play superman anymore...
