Default Seat Re-worked

Hello boys and girls. I have had my Z1000 for 4 days now and this morning I took into Mean City Cycle in Maiden, NC to have it reworked. I didn't that you could do much with the pancake that came on it, but about an hour after handing the seat over to Allen....Holy Shit. The pancake now feels like a Lazyboy. He recovered the seat with the stock cover, but replaced the foam. I ride about 100 miles a day and was really hoping this miracle was possible. If anyone has a seat they want re-worked or something custom made for their bike, give these guys a look. Allen owns several bikes from Harleys to the new Honda CBR1000. He rides all of them and knows that a comfortable ride is paramount. Just thought I would pass this on. My bike should be up on their site soon, it is the first Z1000 they have done. Check them out. Their pricing is very reasonable also. The first pic is the day I brought the bike home. The second is of the reworked seat. Meatier and 100% more comfortable.

Yes, it was memory foam, medium. I went to the Dragon in NC with it last week. I totalled about 500 miles round trip and I have no complaints what so ever with it.

He's pretty much a legend around here for seats. I have friends as far away as California who've sent their seats to him for modification.

I'm working on getting a spare Z seat from the dealership - there's a trashed 2007 model someone has stuck over there, just mildewing, but the seat is in perfect condition. I'd love to be able to send it to Allen so I can still ride mine while it's being done.

What was the wait time on getting an appointment, etc ??? I heard they are pretty busy.

His business is really taking off right now and that speaks for itself so he is busy. He does schedule ride ins where you bring your bike and he does it for you on the spot while allowing you to sit on it until your happy. He only does those on Saturdays. You can however ship it to him and the turn around is fantastic. Only a few days.

I just had the foam replaced. I kept the stock seat cover. If you look at my pics, you can see the hard seat seams in the first pic. The second pic shows how much meatier the seat is. My options where pretty much limited since I have the with the orange forks and rims. You will not be disappointed. On the 11th, I rode from Lincolnton, NC to Deal's Gap or "The Dragon". I rode roughly 480 miles round trip in 11 hours. I would have never made it on the stock seat.

I got home this afternoon about 4:15 from having my seat re-worked too!!!

$100 for the mod, a little under 2 hours of waiting, 77 mile trip home on the bike..

WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS MOD FIRST !!!!!

Allen was great and did a super job on my baby Z. My seat seemed to dome so that my "parts" would go numb within about 10 minutes of riding. Also- if I hit something and bounced, I would come down and feel like there was not even a cushion there at all!

I got the soft memory foam, and he flattened out my seat to better distribute my parts. I could tell the second I sit on it that it would be better. 77 miles home on I-40 where I bounced halfway home on the crappy asphalt and every time I bounced, I came down on soft, plush cushioning.

You can spend $200-$300 on a pre-fab custom seat if you want.. I'm pretty sure they are not as comfortable as mine which is tailored just for me!!

Mean City Cycles.. check them out!!
