ZX6R Fairing Update
Alright guys, I've got a 2000 Kawasaki ZX6-R that I've bought that was used for a stunt bike. It has no fairings and I'm gonna turn it back into a full fairing bike. I was thinking about updating to a 2004 ZX6-R fairing but not sure if the holes are gonna line up on the frame and sub frame. What do you guys think?

The holes wont line up...they are complete different designs.
2000 ZX6R
2004 ZX6R
The only thing I can think is that you can get new ZZR600 fairings. Those should works since it's essentially the old ZX6R.

my advise, find some race farings. if you can't find the originals. and cut out the headlight and tailight openings. that's what I did. it's very easy to do if you make a template.
I had a busted headlight. the right side is missing. the headlights run $400 for a new one. NO THANKS. I don't ride at night so I don't need brights.

They also make "race" fairings for the street where you can still use the headlights/taillights

For the Upper, that sounds like it would work fine. What about the tail fairing and having the seat/cowl and the driver's seat to line up right? Wouldn't I have to swap out sub frames or do you think I could modify what I've got?

I didn't think about the rear seat. mine is still stock. I don't know if it's doable for the seat.

This is what I'm thinking... Go ahead and modify the race fairings as need to work, attempt to mock up an OEM rear fairing on my current subframe, and if that doesnt work, just use the race fairing until my new subframe gets in... Either way I should be able to utilize all the things I have to buy for at least a little bit.

Almost anything can be made to fit with the right modification. My wife has a 1992 FZR 600 with 2000 YZF 600R front plastic and gas tank and 2000 R6 tail and seat. Tail took a good bit of modifying the subframe, the front plastic was easy. Had to make a few custom brackets, buy a fairing stay. Also had to use a 600R header and modify it some to clear the ground but in the end it all turned out great. Definitely not a week end job but well worth it. It gets compliments all the time when were out riding.
