Are they good or bad for the paint on the bike? How do they actually look in real person? I'm thinking about getting them for my CBR because i'm constantly slipping during braking.

if you still have the stock paint job or you had it repainted and your not having lifting problems it won't affect the paint. and it looks fine in person, but it is uncomfortable at first if your not wearing leathers.

It's a stock paint job with only 5000 miles on the bike so I want to keep it in good condition even if I decide to take the pad off. I don't want the paint or the top polish layer coming off with the pad.
I wear textile riding pants so it's really slippery on the plastic gas tank. Is it too awkward or is it a good mod to do?
I asked the same question a few days back.Mine are in the mail by the way...I rode in shorts last weekend(for 1st time ever) to my friends house to help her move and it was SOOOOO much better being able to grip the tank with the skin on my knees.Zero pressure on my hands ...but of course I don't want to ride wearing shorts so hopefully this will be the solution for my poor hands.
It looks like Stompgrip's is more bumpy than TechSpec's snake skin. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Tech Spec isn't bumpy but supposedly they still have great grip. From the looks department, its just personal preference. Although, the upside or Tech Spec is that they are removable which helps if you get it wrong the first time. Stompgrip on the other hand, once you take it off the tank it renders it useless. Unless you want to line your car's cup holders with it.
I run techspecs and stand by them. They are indeed easy to remove if need be.
I guess for a trackday the extra grip from stompgrips would be beneficial.
i'm a street only rider, but i still love my Stomp grip pads. they really help take pressure off your wrists and of course help with braking and cornering. as far as looks, they're practically invisible from 10 feet away. i actually got them to help protect the paint since my last bike was fading from my knees rubbing on the tank.

Techspec Gripster pads suck. I bought a set of Techspec Gripsters and here is what I observed:
The pads started wearing a hole in my Joe Rocket Speedmaster leather pants at the knees - there are multiple layers of lether here, so no huge deal.
The pads lost all stickiness after riding in the rain from Orlando to Daytona and back.
Techspec customer serviceis non-existent, and they would do nothing for me despite the fact that my Gripster pads were only 4 months old.
Stompgrip Observations:
The better you install them, the better they look. Easy installation, just take your time and don't allow bubbles.
You never feel the nubs in leathers, but you do in jeans - at first. Now I don't notice them at all, they just keep my body in the position that I want for as long as I need.
My wife rides the same year, make, and model bike as I do - 2005 Honda CBR 600RR. There is a huge diference in how much energy you expend keeping your body in position. Stompgrips are the best mod you'll ever do for your bike.

Stompgrip holds you in place whether you want to be or not. You have to make a conscious effort to spread your legs to move around otherwise you are stuck there. Its very weird at first.
Tech spec uses a grip pad without 'claws' so that it holds you when you make a conscious effort to hold on.
