Default 07 Suzuki 500F help

Ok just got a new suzuki 500f and im wanting to do a few mods.already have the flush blinkers and have takin off the back fender.have ordered a kn air and oil filter as well.now ive noticed that 2nd gear is very short but other then that great bike.anyone have any other suggestion for top performance.thinkin about a power comander but not sure.thanks for the help

Isnt your bike carbureted, not FI? Either way, if you're doing an air filter, I'd recommend either a PC3 or a jet kit+ tune....slipon you can get away without one but usually I'd recommend a retune for an air filter.

If you think the over-all gearing is too short, you could gear it down (adding teeth to the front sprocket or subtracting from the rear)....but you'd lose acceleration and would probably see a reduction in top-speed too since I doubt you're topping out against the rev limiter.

Yes it carb. I want top performance out of the engine.so really any advice in that area is appreciated.now as far as the retune,would that be something a shop would have to do or is it a simple carb adjustment?

Just go with a slip-on exhaust, air filter, jet kit, and have a shop install it and dyno-tune it to make sure it's running right. You could gear it up a bit too, that'll make a big difference in acceleration but youre gonna lose some fuel economy and your speedo will probably be thrown off a bit.

Welcome fellow Gs500'er Funny you should ask, I just put a slip-on
on my 07 GS500F, a Yoshimura TRS Stainless slip-on model#1150265
no rejet required (see pics of it in the pics forum) installed my self
took just under an hour, should run you about $380-400.
