I've ran a lot of different chains over the years, and I dont really have a preference of one brand over another. Just plan on spending a hundred and change; dont go for the $60 special, as they dont last long enough to even make it worth it.

I use standard O-Ring chains, and I try to get one that's rated somewhere in the 9.5k - 11k pound tensile strength range. Then as soon as I get it home, I clean all the goop off of it with WD40 and I wipe it down again after the first ride, then just keep cleaning it with WD40 (no chain wax) for the rest of the life of the chain.

That's how I do-'s it.

O-ring is all that is necessary, i would definitely say the X-ring should last longer though. But no matter what chain you buy, you should also get some chain cleaner and possibly a grunge brush. Clean the chain regularly before you lube it otherwise your just lubing all the grime and junk thats stuck to the chain.
