Both work well and do the same thing mostly because they are the same thing. Some people do have a preference between the two kevinwilly mentioned. I have had 2 different kinds, put bull steering damper, and ohlins. Ohlins is stock and kinda sucks but the pitbull was awesome. So it doesnt really matter which damper you go with they all help. Some of the major ones I can think of off the top of my head are pitbull, ohlins, hyperpro, gpr, and scotts.
steering damper, steering stabilizer.
I see you have a 954, I had the pitbull on my 954.
Has anyone used or had any experience with a Daytona damper?

I was looking at one just cause its cheaper, and I asked that same question once and I don't think the person that replied had any problems with theirs. If I were you I still would go with one of the bigger names.
fair enough, my wallet was just cringing at the price of the Ohlins damper

I'm not sure what you're looking to change with the gadget. I'll chime in here on what I personally think is a better use of the $$$ if you haven't had it already. Take some training. Most head shake is rider induced. If you haven't had formal training it will probably serve you much better than another gadget for the bike.
If you have had training already and have a specific purpose in mind for the dampener, good for you!
2 things actually, 1: the slight vibration I get from the clip-on's (wonder why they said "Race only use? because daily riding makes you have Hulk hands) 2: The steering is quick, a long sweeper with a slight dip (at around 96mph) had me steadying the steering more than I think would be called for. Also most of the riders of 954's have said it improves the handling of that particular bike overall.
I haven't had any formal training (no trackday, cornerspeed, or Keith Code school) though I've read (and consistently review) the rider skills series off the Sport Rider website and the book Sport Riding Techniques as well. I'd like to get the suspension set up (properly) before dumping the money into the damper/stabilizer but wanted to get feedback on everyones' preference and why as well.

If you have hulk hands you're putting too much weight on the bars. Work on gripping the bike with your legs more and holding your torso up. At least at the times when you need more stability. For long rides you have to have a lot of endurance to do this for extended periods.
Pick up Twist of the Wrist II and read it. Very very helpful. I'm not familiar with the ones you mentioned, but I know what it's TotW:2 and it's really helped me.
The vortex clip-ons don't have the anti-vibration bits in them that the OEM's did. Plus they're aluminum instead of steel...you can feel every bit of the road and steering with them. Because of it your hand strength increases.
I'm not having any wrist pain or jerky-ness from unnecessary steering input either though...I'll be checking out that book either way, more information is always better than less =)
