Default Yoshi TRC Slip-on for Gixxer 600/750 K6/K7 installation notes

I just installed a Yoshi TRC Carbon Slip-On for my K6 GSX-R600 and if you're planning on doing the same, here are some notes:

1) The Slip-on I installed was 1104272 and here are the installation instructions:
http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/images/p...df/1104272.pdf

2) The instructions have 3 parts denoted by ** that you just have to figure out where they go (not explained). Parts list:

3) The muffler clamp heat insulator is obvious and goes on illustration A (below). The 2 rubber grommets need to go on illustration B & C (below). The 2 aluminum inserts are NOT the same. The small one goes in the B grommet and the bigger (hat shaped one) goes on the C grommet.

4) The instructions will lead you to believe that the Tailpipe #1 weld bracket goes behind the Oval Muffler weld bracket (reference D & E below). But the Tailpipe #1 weld bracket goes in front of the Oval Muffler weld bracket (and the grommet insert faces away from the bike).

5) The flanged nut illustrated in F (see above) goes in such a tight space behind the Oval Muffler weld bracket, that it's near impossible to hold it to torque to 16 lb/ft when the muffler is on the bike. There's near 0 leverage and the way I got to hold it was with a special offset head mini box wrench (12mm). I barely got it in there to hold the nut.

So I hope these notes are helpful. I will post my before & after pics shortly.

This was a great upgrade. The bike sounds amazing, looks amazing, and I can feel the extra torque & power!!!

looks good man. I will never expect decent instructions with anything i buy for my bike. When i put mine exhuast on it had 3 steps.

1. take old one off
2. don't burn yourself.
3. put new one on.

Not this vague but just as generalized.

Need some time on that one. I didn't take any video yet. I'll get it up soon for the request.

Do you have a K6 600 to know the sound of the stock muffler and pipe?

A few more notes I remembered...

1) The stock exhaust mount bracket, (shown in G below), is not used for the Yoshi TRC muffler and it actually gets in the way of installing the Yoshi Tailpipe #1. So it must be removed and discarded. It's not needed on the bike if you're not using the stock muffler.

2)The stock exhaust bolt (illustrated in H above) is VERY hard to get off because of the shifter bracket being in the way (illustrated in K below).

You should take this off to have easy access to that bolt. I did it the hard way because I didn't want to take that bracket off and disassemble the shifting mechanism. I used a mini ratcheting socket wrench to get in that tight spot. It was super hard to get the leverage to break that bolt free of the thread locker. Then problem #2 is that as you loosen that bolt, it gets closer to that shifting bracket which gives you near 0 room to work with. So to save yourself headache, take the shifter bracket off - otherwise, be lazy like me and suffer the consequences. I did get it off though

The issue is illustrated below. "I" is the exhaust bolt you need to take off and "J" is the shifter bracket that's in your way.

My buddy has a K7 750 and the engine is deeper sounding than mine. Are you talking about having stock exhaust so we can hear the difference?
