Default Face Shields

Hey...

I was thinking about getting a tinted face shield for my helmet... is it a good buy, or does it make it tougher to see through at night ?? Right now, i just got the clear stock shield and wear my sun glasses during the day

what do you guys use or recommend ?

I use a tinted shield during the day and switch to a clear at night....same thing as wearing sunglasses at night. It also depends on how much tint you get....if its a very light tint you might be fine with it at night.

Tinted shields are dangerous at night. If I am riding and know I will be out after dark, I carry the clear with me in tank or tail bag...or stay with the clear/sunglasses

Get yourself a progessive shield. At least I think that's what it's called. The shield turns darker as it gets brighter.

I wear a "smoke" visor day and night and it isnt that bad. I had a mirrored visor, it looked really cool, but there was no way to ride with it at night, so I went back to smoke.

+1

I hated wearing sunglasses under my clear visor during the day...its so much more comfortable without them. Light tint may be ok at night (like said above) but I think it doesnt work well during the day if you're riding into the sun.

If you have a Shoei, the spectra shield is an awesome product...well worth the money.

It's called a polychromic shield...Akuma has been working on them for a few years now. They even have one that is touch controlled.

Kind of a 'have your cake and eat it too' setup; I hadn't ever seen it before, but a lot of the new Icon jackets have a 'shield pocket' on the inside of the jacket sewn into the liner that holds an extra shield around your side.. the shield kind of hugs the bottom of your rib cage around to your kidney area. Kind of neat. Maybe an option for you.

I have a chrome visor on my scorpion and love it. Been on there for years. Works great at night and during the day I wear sunglasses behind it, but really dont have to.

I have a smoke shield for day and clear for night.
I used to have a stick on transitions thingy that would tint the shield during sunlight. But wasn't quite enough for a bright sunny day.

For years I had a blue iridium sheild day and night. Now I have a smoked shield, but I swear the smoke seems a little darker at night. I still wear it at night, but I wear glasses soI can flip it up if too dark. Also, around here all the streets are lit up like daytime anyway.

Thanks everyone for the feedback... and yeah glasses are a pain to wear with the helmet. I actually have to wear perscription glasses... i have contacts but lately theyve been bothering me and i havent been able to wear them, so i was thinking about getting the new darkened shield so i could wear my glasses and have it not so bright in the sun shine of Florida

I have a Scorpion, so i'll look into that chrome shiled 07ozz, thanks

thanks man...

I'm actually liking the "blue mirror" shield. I got the blue Scorpion "Crack Head" helmet with the black flames and skull on it... the blue shield might be a much blue, but i think it'd look good
