I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I need to start looking at a new rear tire.
I have been running the stock BT-014's, which have done me mostly good. I use my bike as a commuter vehicle as well as taking recreational rides. Because I commute with it, of course, there is a flat spot down the middle of the tire.
I am wondering two things, first, since the front isn't down too badly, I won't be changing it out, yet--is it a bad thing to run a different rear than a front.
Second, someone mentioned a dual-compound tire since I commute. How will that affect performance when I'm riding harder? And is that a good choice.
Thanks for any advice and recommendations in advance.
I just bought the Michelin Pilot Road 2's. They are a dual compound sport touring type tire. It's got the harder middle for those straight commuting runs with a softer shoulder for some recreational sport riding. I like them so far.
i gots the dun's sport touring and they've treated me pretty good.. aside from getting a nail in it after 400 miles, anyways, w/a different front tire you'll be ok and recommendations on where to buy...no other than the original mother ronayers
Once I burned through the BT-014's that were stock on the bike, I went with Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's and could not be happier with them. I'm on my second rear starting today, actually. I got 3000 miles out of the last one, but there were two track days in there, and almost all of the miles were canyon carving as I do not commute on my bike.
Most likely will change to Pirelli Rosso's once the front needs replacing. I've heard a lot of good things about them and with them being more street oriented, they are supposed to last a little longer than the Corsa III's.
I've heard a lot of good things about the BT-016's, Bridgestones newest tires, so if you want to stay with that manufacturer, they wouldn't be a bad choice. The BT-002's wouldn't either, but I doubt they would last as long.
