Default What's the 1st step ??

Alright, so im pretty new to bikes (other than riding my mini bikes and dirt bikes when i was younger)... i've been into the import tuner scene with my Preludes and Civic SI's over the past 10 years, but now im into the the bike scene...

I got a 07 Gixxer 600...

whats would be the 1st steps in getting this bad boy modified and tuned up ??

I actually just put some pennies down and im getting the Lo Jack installed on Friday, with the way these things are always getting stolen, i thought it'd be a good move...

So where do i go in the 1st steps after that in modifying ??

The bike's fine. How about the rider?

Rider training and experience will get you and your bike going faster.

That and maybe a gearing change.

I agree with the other posters. Improving your riding skills is a great benefit...so maybe look into some track days, etc. As far as mods, the most popular mods when people first get a bike is a slip-on exhaust. A lot of people will also get a PCIII, which is similar in function to Hondata for Hondas/Acuras. Those two items will often make the bike ride much smoother. Other people will leave it stock and just get sprockets. It'll take away some of your top end, but people really shouldn't be going 160mph on the city streets anyway. Basically many options with sprockets, although most will either go down one tooth from stock on the front sprocket and often up two teeth from stock on the rear. Others will even get a new chain which is lighter. Although, keep in mind, if you're going with sprockets, you're speedometer will be off, so that's why people also look into a speedohealer. There's many things you can do. I'd recommend getting some frame sliders if you don't have them already. It'll give you piece of mind because of the big investment you just made. Aesthetically, you could get a fender eliminator. Glad to see you're getting lo-jack for your bike. It would've saved my 95 hatch from being stolen a few years ago.

while suspension is important i think accually learing how to tune yoru current suspension is a big big improvment over hard parts modern sport bikes have a crapola of options from factory to ajust that and rider ability

+ 1 on the other posts... jf you've already taken MSF, take the bike in it's current form and go to a trackday that offers a new trackday rider course and just soak in what the bike was made to do. You'll realize that a couple hundred bucks in springs will help you and the bike way more than $1500 in exhaust, powercommander and dyno time.

However, if you're looking for most-bang-for-your-buck, get a -1 front sprocket.

I definitely agree with everyone else. . . Learn to control the bike as is for now. I am so tired of the idiot kids that go out and buy a 1000 and have to have a pipe and a power commander because they rode someones 600 and it wasnt fast enough. That is absolute BS! sorry had to vent, but honestly there is no where around town or on the track for that matter that a new rider could need or properly use any more than a stock 600 in my opinion. Just spend some time riding the bike getting used to it and what it can do before you go adding more power.

First off you suck cause you sold out Honda. But other than that just take some track school. Learn to lean that bitch. Don't be a poser and cruise main roads on your bike.
