Problem with Satos
So I got my rearsets; I go to put them on.
Guess what happens?
Apparently one of the damn allen bolts that connects the right rearset to the master cylinder is completely stripped. Will I have to buy a completely new master cylinder, because the old one is permanently attached to the old rearsets?

Hammer in an oversized allen key, or even a torx. Tap the end with a hammer and try to slowly turn.
Can't remember if recessed, grind a slot for a screwdriver.
Or just try to grap with a pair of vise grips.
Drill the head of the bolt off and then extract the bolt out of the master cylinder (probably grab with vise grips).
Whatever you do, I'd Spray with WD-40 or some kind of nut-buster ( ) and let it soak overnight first.
Pardon me, time for more beer.
I attached parts fiche. Bolts just go through the heel guard right?

used one of these to get a stuck allen screw out of my rearset. didn't have to drill out the screw just hammered in the bit and it came right out.
KD Tools Spiral Screw Extractor Kit - Model KDS2419 at Sears.com
hope this helps.

To all - thank you.
How would I use that tool, spr258?
I might just buy a new master cylinder/heel guard/fluid reservoir assembly on eBay for around $35.

Or would another alternative be to switch out the Satos for some Vortex or Gilles Tooling rearsets?

As for the tool. you put the tool into the allen head. it is a reverse thread tool and grips the allen head while you turn it out. The bolts are sold at local hardware store. just get the higher grade bolts. I buy most of my bolts at Ace because the sales people are very knowledgeable.

I think I'm going to get the Satos - the Vortex will not work with my R55 system and the Gilles have those damn carbon fiber heel guards, which I despise.
