Default questions about how to remove gas warning label to put on tank protector

Just bought a tank protector, and theres a bloody warning label encroaching on the area where I planned to stick the thing. with my experience of warning labels, they're usually sticky as hell and are atom bomb proof. any tricks to gettin it off without damaging the clear coat or leaving residue?

seriously, get a heat gun or hairdryer and get it hot then peel it off. then use some kind of gunk remover to clean up the left over residue.

Goo-Gone or 3M Adhesive remover works great for the residue.
+1 on the hairdryer.

Lighter fluid works in a pinch also, though it may harm paint so it needs to be cleaned off quickly.

I used a few things in the following order and it did not leave a scratch... A hairdryer, credit card, Goo Gone, Microfiber cloth, and then some Plexus. It was still a pain

Goo Gone gel spray is the worst. That stuff leaves a terrible residue that takes forever to remove, it's almost as much of a chore as removing whatever you were in the first place.

The problem was, when I started to peel off the sticker only the clear top layer came off. The sticker itself was still on the tank. Since the top layer of the sticker was off, the bottom layer started to rip into a million little pieces everytime I'd grab a corner or portion. The process probably took me 30 minutes... Just for a damn sticker

Default Yeah, just did the same thing today.

I wished I would have read this sooner. The hairdryer and credit card would've been handy. I used simple green and peeled the sticker with my thumbnail. It took 15 minutes for both. Then I rubbed the hell out of it with a cloth and simple green. There was still a slight amount of sun baked residue stuck on there, and I used a clay bar with spray and shine instant detailer. The clay bar works!!!!!! Don't ask me how it works, but it did. I was just shooting in the dark on that one.

I used WD40 on my bike's decal goo and it worked great. I just made sure to clean the area after I was done getting the sticker crap off.

I consider myself lucky to have read this first before I tried to remove that damn sticker.

Here's what I did/used:

Hairdryer, credit card, simple green and microfiber cloth.

started with the hairdryer and warmed the sticker up then started at the edge with the credit card while continuing with the heat. After I got about halfway I was able to pull the sticker the off the rest of the way. Then I hit it with simple green and the microfiber cloth and with about 5min of elbow grease all traces of that sticker were gone and I was able to apply my tank pad where I saw fit.

thanks to all who posted before me made a world of difference.
