Is there any downside to putting a pipe on before the break in period is complete?...pressure differences?...MPG's???

I'm gonna go with a 'no' and I'd bet my life on it. I don't however claim to be an expert on the subject.

What exactly goes on in a break-in? If you learn what that is then you should have your question answered.

Break in is just bedding and wearing in friction surfaces of parts together basically. Wearing the rings in to match the bores, bearings, etc. Even with how everything is oiled parts are not machined 100% and they need to wear themselves into their normal operating tolerances. Most of the breakin is really piston rings if you ask me, and that's critical in the first couple miles really....the first 50 are the most important.

I know you posted this in another section that I replied also....slipon wont give you problems.
