Default Leave it as-is or fix it?

I am getting ready to do a CW fender elim kit on my ride. I will be replacing all 4 turn signals (front/rear) during the install. Should I go ahead and use resistors and/or some kind of flasher unit to prevent the blinkers from hauling ass, or leave them that way? I've been told "it's not too bad" and "just leave it," but I am not sure I should. I only want to have the bike's wiring exposed/open once so input would help. Thanks guys!

I'd say mock up the circuit without the resistor/'flasher unit', and see if you can handle the frequency of the flashers... be ready to make a run to Radio Shack if you dont like it though... the answer to your question completely depends on how particular you are about this type of stuff; it's a personal preference call.

I like the way you think. ;-)

I'll try it first and see if I can tolerate the rapid flashing. I may be able to save myself some dough, and that's a good thing.

I am not a fan of the resistor idea because they can get pretty hot. I personally left mine and dont mind it. Thats said check out clearalternatives.com and look at their flaher unit- I think its like $15

Thanks for the tip. I installed the signals tonight out back and I got some REALLY rapid flashing. I kinda like it, in a weird sort of way.

I'm a fan of the quick flashing turn signals.

Picture distracted sheepish drivers who scan their 'safety zone' in slow, 'snapshot' intervals.

A faster blink gives more chance to catch their scanning eye versus a slower blinking light. (picture a 1970's bathtub on wheels) blink..................blink...........

LEDs look good with the fast flash...i left mine that way as well. incandecent bulbs tend to appear permanently lit when fast flashing....

Yes, but it'll have to wait until I get home. I have no means by which to take a video here at work.
