Frame Sliders
I have decided to get frame sliders. I have had two friends drop their bikes and their sliders either bent to 45 degrees or snapped off completely. That being said, what are the best materials, what is the best make? I've searched the net and this forum for the slider 101 but haven't found the exact answers I was looking for. Everyone out there claims that the sliders they sell are the best quality. I'm curious from word of mouth.

I have vortex sliders. The are very plain. Simply one cylindrical piece of Derlin (hard plastic). How any slider will handle during a wreck all depends on the nature of the wreck.
Then you can get "cut" or "no-cut" sliders. Just as the name implies, "no-cut" sldiers do not require you to cut the body at all. These usually mount a derlin slider to a metal bracket. There are various reasons for a and against this setup. I personally would not use them. Having said that, I believe one of the mods on here lowsided with this setup and both he and the bike made it out ok.
There is also the option of "race rails" or "canyon bars" offered by Powers Stuntworx and Racing 905 respectively. Google them both and its pretty self explanatory. They def offer the most protection without a full crash cage, and still allow you to drag a knee.

Sliders will bend your hanger bolts, no question. I bent one back 45 degrees and was lucky to get it out.
You should go with race rails... way stronger than sliders and the ones for your bike are no cut

I wouldn't imagine the no cut frame slider to be all that reasuring. Race rails it is, thank you.

Glad to help. Either a set of race railz or canyon bars is in my near future too...i just have to do a lil more research to decide which one.
Only other thing to bear in mind (and im not saying this to discourage you) is that you have to remove the race railz to take ur fairing off. Not sure how it works for the newer GSXR's but I have to take my right one off to change the oil. Its a small hastle, but a hastle nonetheless. Liquids can confirm/deny this since he has them.

Yeah that's what sucks about having 1 piece lowers/mids... but yours are no cut too, and I'm sure you could unfasten the faring and move it out of the way enough to change oil with the rails still on.
I only have to take the left lower off my 900 to change oil. There was a clearance issue between the cage tubing and oil fill cap when the cap was almost all the way unscrewed, so I just had to cut off part of the corner of the flange on the fill cap, no big deal, but the 06/07 GSXR fill cap is totally clear. fill cap circled in red

Thanks. yea the cutting isnt an issue for me since my fairings are already cut. Ill have to see it the 905 version has the clearance issue with the fill cap like the powers model.

I haven't seen pics of them anywhere but powers does have them. Email powers and see if they can send you pics. There's a group buy going on for them over at 600rr.net I think. I have seen pics of the tygershark on the 07 600RR though...

I think it's somewhere between a full cage and rails... both sides don't under or through and connect with each other like a cage, but it has tubing that goes down and then back. If you emailed them they could probably make you one without that though, or just get powers

I can't find these so called canyon bars anywhere. Either cages or the race railz is all I've found. Im going with the race railz, the issue of them needing to come off in order to take the fairing off is good to know but well worth the hassle in the long run I think.

All I did was google it, and it came right up. I believe they are currently only made to order (but I could be wrong). They look a bit beefier than the Powers version. Take a look.

I like the look of those a lot. Quality is my top concern with this modification. Anytime I googled it all I was returned were links to Canyon bars as in a place to get a stiff drink near the grand canyon. I'll keep looking futher.
