Default Streching out a Fiber Glass seat just a hair.

Is it safe to use a heat gun? I just got a cafe seat off of flea bay for a killer deal and the mold was just a hair to small with the width.

Can I just heat it up and strech it out? Obviously I know I would wrinkle the gel coat but this isn't coated.

Ideas?

Thanks guys!

how much is "just a hair"? I have worked with fiberglass, but never had to stretch it after it was cured.

Could you possible re-drill the mount or make small bracket to adapt it to the frame instead so you dont risk damaging the seat?

After the resin has cured, 'stretching' it is asking for heartache. If it needs to be wider, you'll need to cut it and widen it, or add on more material in some way to make it work. Fiberglass has higher tension strength than shear strength, so if the stuff is even half-way correctly built, 'stretching' it is going to take a TON of pressure with or without heat, and will most likely end up ripping the peice apart before it ever 'stretches'. Pics?

actually yes, I can load some pics tonight.

I seriously only need it maybe 1/4" wider to fit over the rear frame cross member. Heres a pic of exactly whats hitting the seat. The seat should set right downn over it.

Ill also attach a picture of the style seat Im trying to use.
