Default need LED info

Ordered a set of LED flushmounts for my bike. I ordered amber LEDS, but the LED bulbs look clear when not lit.

I can't hook them up because my fairings aren't in yet.

Do LED's light a different color when activated, or do I need to send these back? This is my first LED purchase, so anybody with experience with them let me know.

Thanks

1. which did you order?

2. most LED's have a clear housing...the light color (wavelength) is dependent on the diode itself. this differs from incandescent lights because incandescents can only be colored by changing the lens color. LED's can emit any color thru a clear housing.

i've done alot of work with LEDs....if ya have any other ?'s, i'll get back atcha...

they are made by BikeLitz in FL. I got them through 1Tail and they actualy drop-shipped from the manufacturer.

They are 4 pods. I'm hoping they are bright enough for me. If I would have known that the flash rate controller was just a resistor I would have made a little in-line resistor on my own. Friggin' rip-off if ya ask me, at $29.99.

I would just hook them up, but I'm at work and I figured someone would know off-hand.

Thanks

Like Choco said its should just be the housing. Should light up the color that you ordered.

Is this the unit you plug into the stock flasher unit location, or some in-line the company designed?

I have heard about issues of the resistors getting really hot when people try the resistor trick to slow the rate...it makes sense, but ive never had experience with it. can someone confirm/deny this who has tried it?

the trick flasher he has does not have the impedance sensing circuit to activate the quick flash.

the resistors are load resistors....ie. low resistance but lots of power disipation, typically 10W. they get hot as hell in most cases but not hot enough to burn plastic.
