Tech on Rear-Tire offset for chain.
When looking at the back of a bike some, like mine have the rear tire offset to the right. Is this to offset it for the chain to minimize the torsional torque to the swingarm? I'm assuming that reducing this flex (or the need for additional material weight to achive this stiffness) outweighs the offset of the leading edges of the rear tire mismatching the front.
The rear tire already is twice as wide as the front, so when fully leaned over, the tail section is effectively 'lifted' laterally. Moreso when leaned over right, than left.
Any thoughts or discussion on this pheonomenon?
