Default 2002 Yamaha R1 - Passing inspection: DE

Hey guys...

I've been curious about something for a while now but never really got an answer to my question. This is my 3rd bike, a 2002 yamaha r1 that I just purchased... and i'm working on getting it through inspection.

The bike has a full scorpion exhaust, aftermarket turn signals in the front, and mini turn signals in the rear.... and a fender eliminator kit...

My first bike (1998 katana), had a fender eliminator kit also, and the Delaware DMV demanded I put the stock rear fender / signals on before they would pass it... it was an incredible hastle to go through. My second bike was pretty much stock when I bought it, except for the yoshimura rs-3 carbon fiber slip-on... but it passed inspection even with that.

Now that I have the R1, im concerned that it will fail horribly.

The question is, 1 do you guys think they will give me crap about the exhaust being as harleys and other bikes are STOCK way louder than the R1?

2nd question is, if you have a rear fender eliminator kit... can I just have a rear tire hugger fender? Will that work to not have to get the stock rear fender? Does anyone know the law on this sorta thing, like what's required and etc?

Let me know, and thanks...
Will

DMV does get carried away on alot of crap, but it depends on who you have to deal with when you go, sometimes your good...other you get an ass. I'd go, not like its good riding weather right now anyways, Trailer it there and see what they have to say, you might go with no problems. If not, fab up some junk to mount the stock lights on and slap a rear fender on made of something like thin metal, paint it black and if they complain about the noise, you can find somebody with a sock R1 muffler around somewhere cheap. rig it to pass it then put it back when your done.

I usually keep my old stuff just in case and sell it all with the bike when I buy a new bike. That makes it nicer for the next guy to get it tagged as well.
