Question Brake Savvy?

Anyone with personal experience with a good set of after market brakes help me out, stock '05 GSXR 750 brakes and I'm looking to replace some of the components. So far I'm planning on buying some Goodridge Steel Braided Lines I saw in February's issue of 2WT.

That stock brakes have been working great I just wanted to know if it's worth looking for anything.

I don't plan on seeing a track for a while, so it's pretty much all street ridin.

The lines is a good start..........Im also a huge fan of PERFORMANCE FRICTION PADS...........they have the best compounds on the market. Great initial bite, awesome stopping power and soft so they dont warp rotors.

I can attest to this bro! Hybrid recommended the performance friction to me and when I checked on them, I was like ooooh pricey...When I put them on I was ellated by the fact that I got exactly what I payed for.....I have goodrich braided lines, combined with the pads! One helluva combination!

I just put a set of lines on my buddies 06 Gixxer 750. Improved it, but yesterday we added EBC HH Sintered pads and it is in one finger stoppie land now. Really improved it. The stock pads look like sintered pads, but the EBC pads really made it work much better. I have been using the EBC HH pads since 1998 or so, love 'em.

On my TLS and my daughter's SV650 we use them too, and they are better. With braided lines and a good quality pad, you should see a large improvement. Be sure and practice using your brakes so when you need to you can.

Thanks for the quick response, it's appreciated greatly and I'm glad you ALL agree'd about the brake lines.

I'll have to check out the pads now.

One finger stoppies eh? Yeah, I'll definitely do some testing, I got myself into an "oh fuck, hit the brakes" moment following a couple friends wound up with my bike sideways, managed to keep it up and take the turn that we suddenly had come up. It freaked me out for sure.

you guys are great

I used to use the EBC HH's as well....I always thought that they were the best out there.....Until I tried the performance friction...Seriously!

Bah!

After I purchased them I read bad things...I read the stock Honda pads are better than the EBC pads on my bike.

But...I was going to give them a try.

No sense arguing about brake pads, it's personal preference based on feel, so long as they don't melt.

The lines are fine if you've already got them, but why upgrade anything else if the bike is working well for you? Sportbikes come with really, really good brakes from the factory.
