Default polishing rims

I would like to polish the lips of my rims, What's the best way to do it? I picked up some aircraft remover and solvent gloves, I would like to do it without having to take off the tires.

Just did this a few days ago. I would take the wheel off the bike, it makes it a lot easier to work on. What I did was mask off the areas that I didn't want any of the stripper on and start spraying away. It works best in warm weather, so it will take multiple coatings of the stripper to get it all off. The paint will bubble up and I used some steel wool to wipe away the paint. Do not use anything that would be too gritty, as it will scratch the rim and it'll be a pain to fix. I was fortunate that I did not have to resand the rim down - after the paint was completely stripped off, just a bit of Mother's Aluminum polish and elbow grease and they looked pretty damn good.

Just a word of caution, do a good job of masking off any areas you don't wan't stripped off - the area closes to the lip will likely become loose, allowing stripper to work itself in there. It happened to me, but it's not a huge deal, some slight bubbling. Nothing a bit of sandpapering and repainting couldn't fix. Hope it works out for you.

+1. It CAN be done with the wheels on the bike, but it's going to be a PITA.

I did mine last spring.

EDIT: I've attached a closeup pic of the rear rim for CBRAWR.
