Question ZX-6R exhaust on a ZX-6D???

Ok, here's the gist of things. I'm looking to drop some weight from my bike and get some louder exhaust but can't shell out $500 for a full exhaust and $170 for the jet kit afterwards. Also, since my bike is dual exhaust, it's more for slip-ons than it is for a full system.
So I was looking at 95-97 ZX-6R's and they look almost the same as far as the dimensions of the bike go and they came with single sided exhaust. Question being, does anyone know if the stock exhaust piping will fit my bike with little or no modification?? End goal of this being single sided exhaust with a slip on and a grand total of less than $700. Thanks so much guys.

Your swinging at the trees with this thinking.

I would bet you could get the full HINDLE system on a close out for less than six.

If it did fit, the exhaust would be so radicaly different that you would need to rejet anyways and you wouldnt really be saving alot of weight from stock header to stock header on those models.

I am pretty sure that the Hindle system goes into one muffler. I could be wrong but I remeber them to be like that for all the early nineties ZX11 and its junior clone the ZX6

I've been looking for exhaust for my bike all over the place and the only company that makes a full system for it is D&D for around $550. I totally am just stumbling in the dark as far as the idea goes but I'm just trying to weigh my options and they keep getting lighter and lighter. I'm not looking on saving a bunch of weight with the new header, just trying to ditch the second muffler. Also, if I did put on the ZX-6R exhaust, assuming it fits, and get a slip on, even if I had to rejet, I'd still be saving some money. However, I don't want to do it if I risk messing something up, I'm just wondering if it's possible.

only way to find out is to try.

Something tells me the head design will prove to be a problem for you.

I seriously think you ought to call hindle directly and ask them if they have one for you. I bet they do as they generaly have a stack of pipes that didnt sell that they would love to get rid of.

Just my .02¢
