Default My car sent to the crusher w/o my permission

Ok, so I got in a car accident nearly two months ago. The other driver's insurance company has been stalling and I'm ready to take them to court to get the money they owe me.

Meanwhile, the car was sitting in the towing company's parking lot. They sent me a notice after the car was parked for 30 days and I waited two weeks after receiving the notice to call them. Unfortunately, by then they had sold the car to a wrecking yard and it's been crushed. And apparently that's perfectly legal.

Well, at least I know it's totalled, but I'm not sure what the insurance company will say now. The car wasn't worth much, but I really liked it (it was a '92 Nissan Sentra SE-R).

I wanted to post this as a warning to others who might encounter a similar situation. Don't leave your car in the possession of others!

Why did you wait two weeks to call them? I bet if you had called them they probably wouldn't have crushed it. Probably could have worked something out to get the car until the insurance takes care of it.

Two weeks is a really long time to wait, I would have done the same if I was the car company.
