To show this is a legit concern- Yesterday I was pedeling hard (bicycle) and a cop flashed his lights at me.
I know I was speeding, but my question is, to anyone who sells insurance or has had it happen to them, will my car insurance go up if I get a speeding ticket on my bicycle?

That's actually an interesting question! I have gotten warnings on my bike, but never a ticket. I was somehow clocked at going 10 over on an empty mountain road with a steep grade and no cars. How the hell are you supposed to know how fast your going if you don't even have other cars to go off of?

You're not insured on your bicycle, and you're also not registered. Street use is permitted given you follow the rules of the road.
What this means is if you do not obey the rules, you'll at most receive a verbal warning for something like speeding.
If you were to actually receive a ticket, it would not be something the DMV (dpt motor vehicles) would have on your record, so it couldn't affect your insurance rates.
Theres still ways to get $ out of you though, I'd suggest taking the bike off road if they come after you. Nobodys running through the forest to chase someone on a bicycle. lol
You CAN get a speeding ticket, and speeding tickets do effect your insurance rates. So YES! There was a case law I read awhile back where the defendant said that although he was speeding, he shouldnt have been given a speeding ticket because he was on a bicycle. But the outcome said that since Bicycles are expected to abide by all the same rules when riding on public roads, their speed is no different. If you really want me to search for this case law I could probably find it.

Have to check the state laws...the VA state website seems down now. As I said, most states-apparently not CA though, define their traffic laws as a described requiring operation of a motor vehicle as elements of the offense.
"§ 46.2-878.2. Maximum speed limits in certain residence districts of counties, cities, and towns; penalty.
Operation of any motor vehicle in excess of a maximum speed limit established for a highway in a residence district of a county, city, or town, when indicated by appropriately placed signs displaying the maximum speed limit and the penalty for violations, shall be unlawful and constitute a traffic infraction punishable by a fine of $200, in addition to other penalties provided by law. No portion of the fine shall be suspended unless the court orders 20 hours of community service."
But-I notice this:
"Every person riding a bicycle, electric personal assistive mobility device, electric power-assisted bicycle, moped, or an animal or driving an animal on a highway shall be subject to the provisions of this chapter and shall have all of the rights and duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle, unless the context of the provision clearly indicates otherwise."
If you can get a DUI on a bicycle it would only make sense if you could get a speeding ticket. Going beyond that, I almost received the "on-foot" equivalent of a DUI a few times during my senior year...
