I am completely echo friendly, home off the grid, electric vehicle recycled products only.
So I keep hearing all these people calling for higher oil prices so people do not drive and or consume to much, so lets hear it, who actually uses alternative energy sources. That means hybrid car, electric car/motorcycle. Solar panels, wind ect.
Nothing "alternative" but have definitely made some changes in the past 1-2 years. Drive economy car, ride the bike when possible, paying attention to tire pressures and gas mileage when driving (being light on the gas pedal, etc). Also have been using the farmer's market in my town more as opposed to the supermarket, and grew most of my own veggies this year.

Oil FTMFW. I drive my full size truck and enjoy the hell out of it, and I enjoy using an excess amount of a finite resource on the weekend with my bike. Folks, we are not going to run out tomorrow, all the little baby penguins are not going to die horrible deaths tomorrow, and now that most are scared shitless of the price of oil even now that the market has temporarily tanked, fuel effiency (non-hybrid)and VIABLE alternatives are on the forefront.
I'm so sick of this "green" movement. Not for it's principles, but the way in which people cling onto it. Honest to God, I saw more people who would come buy from me at a farmers market with those fucking cloth bags because they were good for the environment and then walk back to their full-size SUV, more than once of which was left idling while they shopped, this year than I have seen in 6 years of doing it.
LOL SBN Ball Breaking...I think that should be a new olympic sport!

while i don't really do anything especially green. i do my best NOT to waste gas, or electricity.
When I started paying attention to the lights and phone chargers and stuff that i used to leave on at home, i noticed a pretty substantial drop in my energy useage.
I even play a little game with myself to try and improve my gas mileage each week in my pickup. (drifting down hills, shifting way early etc,)

+1 Yep. I've always been like that as well. If for no other reason that it saves me money.
I get nearly 20mpg mixed driving with my full size Chevy (5.3 V8) driving. I've heard of the new AFM 5.3's getting 23-24mpg highway by modifying one's typical driving habit.
I love people who get a V6 or even a 4 banger, drive like a jackass, and wonder why they get 15mpg.

I average 30 mpg highway in my daily driver, but I drive 70miles/day.

I drive my pickup only hunting or job sites normally. My main vehicle is a 89 lemans that gets 43 mpg on the highway, 30s in town. I have always been a conservative person, I have toys and things I want to do. so to me, I do not personally want to waste money putting gas in a automobile. Im not a big food waster, I feel like shit doing it. Rarely eat out. I would like to go solar and wind someday, I lack the funds for it with the current economy.
Okay so the thing that bothers me is the people who drive electric cars thinking that they have NO effect on the enviroment. Where the hell do they think we get electricity from?
Clean, nuclear powerplants?
No, the same hippies that drive those cars had a lot of those shut down.
Coal burning plants?
BINGO!

Elevated atmospheric carbon levels from the combustion of fossil fuels are making the oceans more acidic, as CO2 diffuses into the ocean, then is converted to bicarbonate with water, releasing free H+ protons.
Apparently, the only reason you're sick of the green movement is because you're ignorant of the potential harm we can cause. Have you ever heard the phrase 'Don't shit where you eat?'
I commute on my bicycle, rain or shine, summer or winter. It saves me a crapton of money on gas and parking. But I've got to admit, biking gets gets miserable sometimes. Plus I've been bumped into by cagers not paying attention and drifting into the bike lane more than once. Glad I have a mtb and can jump curbs.

I forgot about this one
the company I used to work for had solar powered paper towel dispensers in the rest rooms. However, for them to work effectively, you had to leave the lights on for awile, even when they weren't in use.

not only that, BUT, what are we going to do with all those batteries when they need to be disposed of??
Unless they've come up with non toxic batteries that I haven't heard of.
