If you feel that bad about society's treatment of animals, go adopt a dog from the local pound or just off yourself.

I already had a cat that I picked up from the street. Unfortunately it died an year ago. I'll do that again when I get the chance.
Now you get your head out of your ass and understand it's not about animal rights and treatment. It's not about the dog dude. It's about us.

Thing about animals is they are what they are. Hell despite hunting and trapping I have a ton more respect for animals over humans, and this sack of shit proves exactly why. You wont get it, you slopped up the bullshit excuse from this guy, and thats all it was, a bullshit excuse, he doesnt give a fuck in all honesty.

His display is kind of self-defeating, given his finger pointing and all. My statement regarding blowhards have expanded to include the artist himself.
This may come of a shock to you, but people have been assholes to each other since man walked the earth. There is no recent decay of society - it's been like this since civilization started. This isn't new; it's been like this and always will be.

Back in the early 80's I attended a party in downtown DC for some young up-and-coming punk rocker/artist type. His sponsor (a rich Yuppie) had commissioned him to paint a mural on her living room wall, which he did during the party in front of a crowd of admirers.
Once he finished he went outside, located his beneficiary amidst a throng of drunk, high hangers-on in the back yard, and asked her the same question - to which she gave the same answer. He promptly returned to the living room and began kicking huge holes in the freshly-painted wall with his Doc Martens.

That is awesome.
And as for the starving dog, there is a point to that as well. The only reason we are all hearing about this is the shock value. It's a comment on society. What are any of us as individuals going to do to change or prevent this in the future? THAT is the idea.

Does the "artist" not realize that even though he put on the exibition, since he did nothing to save the dog himself he is no different from those members of society that he is trying to chastise and condemn? That's really no difference from robbing someone and then telling everyone "Look! See? Robbing someone is bad, and since you didn't stop me from doing it you are condoning it!"
It's a bullshit excuse, and it's not fucking art. Killing another living creature to "make a point" is not necessary. It's cruelty, plain and simple.
Try writing a fucking essay instead. Or donate money to an animal shelter. Or foster dogs at your own home. What do you want to bet that this asshole thinks that he's made his "contribution" to a good cause by letting a dog starve? What kind of fucked up logic is that?

By the very fact that you've taken it upon yourself to establish a "pecking order" to the significance of life, you've defined your own as not worth very much.
This is the essence of exploitation. Is hunger a significant issue? Of course. But the irony here is that this fellow finds himself to be such an omnipotent figure that has the right to torture a dog for his "cause", yet the reach of this display was so small so that we're only hearing of it now, practically as hearsay, over a year later..?
The unfortunate flip-side of his failed experiment (failed - among other reasons - in that all we're left with now is he said/she said finger-pointing with little regard to the initial cause) is that he's potentially desensitized the issue. A dog has starved to death. No one gave a fuck. There's goes the neighborhood. And yet the sun has risen again.
Yeah, that's making an impression.

he does have a point, no one cares about a starving dog on the street. is this the best way to tackle this issue? maybe not.
but then again, artists are not the smartest people out there...

If I see a dog wandering around at work and have some of my luch left, I throw it some.
This guy should be in Smoking Aces II. The part where the guy has him chained upside down and uses the blow torch on him.

I always do that. Feeding a cat in a restaurant and giving a stray dog some of my döner kebap is something I'm accustomed to. My mother tho, she puts that on a whole other level. She carries dog and cat food with her and feeds stray dogs/cats on her way to work, around the place we live, around her work, etc. That's just too much imo but hey, to each his own.
ZX7Robert: I'm not sure if you're trying to be a smart ass by telling me I'm bad because I state the obvious or you're just ignorant. Yes, the life of a dog or any other animal is and should be far less important than the life of a human being. If that wasn't the case we would be eating humans and not chickens, we would be hunting for humans and not deer, we would be going to jail for putting out dogs the same way people were put to jail for helping agonizing cancer patients end their misery. So yeah, in case you haven't noticed, this is not my establishment of pecking order, it's our establishment of pecking order. I didn't come up with it, I just stated it.
Also this fellow doesn't try to look better than all the rest. He tries to make all the rest think a little. He's not trying to show the world he's a saint. If we were all as awesome as we think we are this dog would be saved, not tortured and the artist would even face charges. That's just another case of us pointing fingers at everyone but not ourselves. That's his damn point.

No he's not, he is just trying to get his name out their and get some recognition, he doesnt give a fuck all about that dog, or any other dog.
As said several times, people who give a shit will do what they can to take in a stray, feed them, maybe donate time to a animal shelter.
