It's easy to fight tickets. I think everyone should. Just be respectful to the judge, prosecuter (sp?) and popo. Dress in a nice suit or shirt and tie. Advise them of the mistake you made if you did make one and ask for a deal or for them to reduce it. After court do what my father told me, "stop breaking the law dumb ass".
that is hardly what one would call "fighting" a ticket.

I don’t know about everybody else. But I don’t have time to roll downtown to play “junior lawyer”. Sooooo… I don’t ride like an asshole in traffic. And on those few days when I do feel like “stretching it out a bit”, I do it in remote unpopulated areas.
Sure I understand the sentiment about “fighting the man”. But I don’t have a sugar-Daddy (or Mama ) bank rolling my ass. I actually have to get up in the morning and go to work. That chick isn’t “changing society”. All she is is good at her hobby. Good for her. Other than that? This thread is useless…

I guess it was the way I was brought up. If I did the crime then don't whine and cry about it and say I'm getting screwed. Every time I've been pulled it's been my fault for being a jack ass and doint stupid shit in cars/bikes like speeding, racing, and other fun.....umm, I mean illegal stuff. I admit to what I did but also ask for them to reduce it. Every single one I've had reduced or dropped or suspended as long as i don't get pulled in 12/24/36 months.
I've never been pulled for doing "nothing", I guess I have better luck then a lot of you.

I have defended and won against 2 cities. I got an assault, 2 suspended license, 2 no insurance and 4 expired registration tickets and even got 160 dollars refunded to me for a night I had to spend in jail for one of these charges.
Go sit in on trials and just watch. You will learn so much that will help you out.

Your paranoid fruit cake deals lol. "the government is out to get youuuuuuu, they're gonna get youuuuu, everything is a scam" lol
It kind of is. You pay a lawyer some ridiculous made up fee so they can go up to the prosecutor and whisper "yea can you drop that down thanks" and leave. Thats how life works.
Your lumping me with a group that doesn't do anything. I do but I also know that not everyone is a shit bag. I don't like when people are anti all government because of a few shit bags.
In his post it stated that the judge didn't let her continue to ask about the calibration because it was already anwsered but he didn't explain to her why he didn't let her continue asking. Because he didn't further explain means hes a shit bag, please. In court if something has already been asked and awnsered regarding certificates, calibration, training...then it doesn't need to be repeated.
I spent 20 years employed by govt and military, plus 15 years fighting govt corruption in civilian courts. 8 years of military was spent filing criminal charges against soldiers and commanders, including a successful "mutiny" during Gulf War #1.
Cops, prosecutors and judges hate the US Constitution, to destroy USA. I'm defending the US Constitution, to save USA.
Somebody has to take out the trash, or we end up living in a toxic landfill. That includes firing and arresting crooks who infiltrate govt.

"The Blount County Sheriff Department has LOST 24 trucks, but wants $500,000 to buy dozens of new vehicles. The sheriff was $1.5-million 'over-budget' in 2006, including over half a million dollars in credit card purchases that cannot be accounted for. Where did all that money go?"
-Harry Grothjahn, general manager, WBCR Truth Radio 1470AM, January 2007 (the same cops at Deals Gap Dragon)
"An audit of Blount County sheriff Office revealed that 80 vehicles are missing, at an average cost of $33,000 each, for a total of $2.5-million. The sheriff refused to answer questions from county commissioners at the county commission meeting, and told Dr Proffit that his question was 'not on the agenda', and refused to answer his question. The sheriff is now buying one million dollars a year in new vehicles, with zero accounting of that money. If you can't account for $33,000 vehicles, that's a very serious problem. This would get you fired in most jobs. The sheriff pays 'bonus' checks that go to everybody but the deputies. When we asked the sheriff for overtime accounts, he refused to provide any record of hours or overtime. Blount County spends 56% more per arrest than Sullivan County, for Class A major crimes. There is a reluctance, an arrogance, and unwillingness to answer questions by the sheriff. And why does the Blount Sheriff Dept pay to get 'certified' by CALEA, which is a private corporation? Why is a government law enforcement agency not certified by the government? Why does CALEA Corporation get a free luxury banquet every day at taxpayers' expense, paid by taxpayers in every town and county in Tennessee?"
-Jim Folts, Citizens for Better Government, BlountTN.net, WBCR Truth Radio 1470AM, 29 May 2007
Cops have to decide which side they are on. Which requires them to start arresting other cops. Internal Affairs is a good place to start. Any "contact quota" is probable cause to arrest all their superior officers for conspiracy under the RICO Act. Just do it.
Tona is not a legal expert, so she makes mistakes in court, just like everybody else, including lawyers. But that's how you learn, by doing. Practice makes perfect. Just like any other sport.
The more practice, the smoother it goes in court, with everyone speaking the same foreign language. If you ride a 160 mph machine, you might want to do your homework.
There is a trick to winning on appeal, which judges try to sabotage during the trial. Defendants must never consent to waiving their Constitutional rights and other legal defenses, which requires objecting on the record, in the transcript, in a "timely fashion". Otherwise the appeal court will decide they voluntarily gave up.
The judge got off easy with a letter of apology. But eating crow ain't bad.
My sister was a public defender in a major US city. She had 1,000s of trials, including jury trials. She only won ONE case, and that was when her "guilty client" told her exactly what to do to win. She was paid a lot of money by the govt to lose, and to destroy her clients' ability to win on appeal, by doing just enough to "protect their Constitutional rights", but not enough work to actually win. She had zero interest in learning about Constitutional Law and how to win trials, and refused to read law books by winning criminal defense lawyers.
So Tona Ball has now won twice as many trials as my sister, the professional govt trial lawyer. 1,000 batting average ain't bad.

Any back story on this? Or are you just going to present the aftermath?
I specifically am interested in what the judge said to this woman. If it's in your original post, I apologize, but you must admit the post is weighted down with exteraneous points, and it's hard to see your point.
I don't think she had a transcript or recording, and I wasn't there myself, so I don't know the details. The first trial was in city court, which is not a "court of record", so the city court did not make its own tape recording or transcript, as required in real courts.
Usually it's not a pretty sight to see a rookie pro se do battle against the professional gladiators in the Roman Colliseum. But once they figure out the rules of the game, its a better show than pro sports. Even lawyers are impressed when a pro se wins, and start asking for tips on how they won that case.
Go sit in a courtroom and spectate. That's entertainment.

That's when I figured out I could do better pro se.
And why let the lawyer have all the fun, grilling a cop on the barbie, er, witness stand?
Do you have an actual job, or do you just surf the web looking for this stuff from your bunker?
he is 'disabled' and receives money from the government as a veteran of the armed forces.
Most of his affidavit complaints written to the court explain in the very beginning that he is disabled and any of the mistakes in the complaint are because of his disability and are to be overlooked.
Almost like a disclaimer that if its right, its because I know what im talking about.. but if its wrong.. its because im disabled and should be ignored.
So, because of his disabled status, he can't find a better way to amuse himself other than posting conspiracy theory stories on a sportbike forum?
I'd say there are much better forums for that type of soapboxing, and they would probably encourage it instead of bashing it like they do here.
Also, if the gov't is so inherently evil, how could anyone in good consience go on taking a check from them every month?

A buddy of mine was a/the judge for the city of Emporia. It was better than pay per view. You got to see the same lawyers over and over.... deals already struck with prosecutros (intetional misspelling)... and then the folks off the street representing themselves in DUI cases was always a hoot...
But fighting tickets is something I do as a matter of course. Most recently for speeding in a school zone- although the one sign blinking that the speed is reduced is virtually invisible, and my speed was the legal limit any other time of the day. I simply pleaded that the city failed to properly inform people of the reduced speed. I did it with nothing more than a video camera held by a passenger in my truck proving you just can't see the light and it's placement is probably no accident.
I don't think traffic laws have much to do with public safety. More about revenue generation. This is why the DA will drop points that may affect the license of a driver, just so long as they pay fines.
I also don't think many cops either know the law themselves, or just rely on most people's ignorance of the law to bully them. A broad indictment to be sure, but I think a valid one. More than once I've simply told a cop to bugger off despite his threats- knowing he was just talking out his ass hoping his badge would scare me. Perhaps this is a taught behavior, maybe it's just them being badge-heavy for personal ego. Either way, once you demonstrate zero fear of that badge they often back down rather than be made to look foolish.
Judges I find to be okay folks. Often though their personal beliefs come into play and that's when I just shut up and let their mouths prove my case later since it's all recorded.
I hope that letter was a little more heartfelt than some people think. I've been lucky to avoid the legal system for the most part, so I'm no expert. But I've seen judges take the time to explain something, and others just use the bench as a soapbox.
The main point is though- never just take something lying down. That is what the bad cops/judges rely on, and the good ones usually don't piss you off to begin with. Admit when you are wrong, don't accept blame for what you didn't do, know your rights.
It's certainly not just the legal system that relies on people's ignorance of the topic. It's the hallmark of pseudoscience (and conspiracy theory).
Cops and judges certainly do not hate the constitution. That is the governing document of the job they've dedicated themselves to. Some are just bad at it, or get into it for the wrong reason.
