Ok so I'm repsoting this in the open forum because nobody would reply in the tv movie whatever it is subforum.
First question, I recently sealed the deal on eventualy buying a PSP, I was at gamestop and saw Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for PSP and I'm always remembering the first game for PS2 I loved it. Well I bought it, it was 20 bucks, which is 50% off of it's normal price and I've been wanting a PSP for a while so I bought it. Gotta question concerning the PSP for when I do get it, how the hell will I access servers to play with other players online? Do I have to use T-Mobile hot spots like at starbucks? what's the cost?
Second question, concerns PS3 and online play, I live in a rural area, no cable lines, everything is satellite, besides our internet connection, dial-up ftl. I'm considering getting this internet from AT&T, you basically plug in the reciever to a USB port and go, my uncle has it just next door and he said he can watch vids on oyutube and such. Could I play my PS3 online with this? or would I have to get like hughes net or something?
I don't own a PS3 yet either but these are things that well ... are gonna happen, my fave games like socom and gran turismo, and not to mention another TT down the line maybe so I'm gonna get one.
I can't really say how your online gaming experience will be. For most new games, you have to have a pretty fast connection to keep the game from lagging too bad.
You don't have any high speed internet providers in your area?
Yeah I'm really concerned because online gaming is like my ME time lol
I've played socom since Socom II was released I can't tell you how much I miss playing those games.
When we had the apartment we had cable broadband by Comcast, but now we're so far out in the country we can't get cable period, it's available 4 miles up the road but not here, everything we have is satellite, except my internet like I mentiond, good ole lan line -_-
You won't be able to play games online at all, sorry to say.
The PSP can connect to broadband internet in a hot spot or if you have a wireless router in your home. I have a wireless router and get online with my PSP every now and then.
The PS3 must be connected to a high speed internet provider. I highly doubt you'd have very good luck with the wireless broadband. I might be wrong, but I wouldn't trust it.
And just to throw this in for the haters...Xbox 360>PS3...

Their games are all made in Mexico, as is their console, I'll take my now made in China Sony stuff instead
My pals second gen 360 (new heatsink design and so on) just got the red ring and they said it'd be six fucking weeks for them to repair it and they swipe your data from the HDD.
See I was told it might work but it also might lag pretty bad, guess I'll be gaming on my PSP online.
If that's the case, then those crazy Mexicans are making far better games than those goofy Chinese people.

Did your stupid friend not take the hard drive off before sending his console back to them? Its his own fault if they decide to wipe his drive, they tell you very clearly to remove the HDD from the box before putting it in the mail.

Yup. They are VERY clear about taking all of YOUR stuff off of the console before sending it back. HDD, custom faceplates, all that stuff.
I work with a guy that somehow manages to fry a 360 like every 3 months. He's seriously on like his 8th console. I asked him where he has it located, and he showed me a picture of it...he's got it like tucked into this tiny little nook in his entertainment center with a glass cover over it. I told him he should think about moving it, because there's NO way for heat to dissipate out of the nook. The wires even are only run through a hole in the back of the nook that's just big enough for them to fit through it...

The PSP doesn't necessarily suck...but it is a bit of a let down. I wish there were more games for it...but the few of them that I have are pretty cool. I guess I've learned to like handhelds more for what they are...portable gaming. If you try to compare a handheld game to an Xbox 360 or a PS3 game of course they aren't even in the same league...but they aren't supposed to be.
There's some GREAT handheld games out there for both the PSP and the DS (I have one PSP and two Nintendo DSs)...especially if you look for more "quirky" games. Patapon on the PSP was one of the best games I've played in ages...and it only cost $20.
