I wouldn't give $85,000 for one of them either. That kind of money for a car borders on crazy and it would have to be pretty special. Like I said, these things are mass market assembly line produced and the factories could probably knock out thousands every month. They won't do that because by reducing the numbers they can artificially keep the price high with the "illusion of exculisivity."
I would prefer something hand built because it promotes real cratsmanship, and when stuff is built by craftsmen it takes time. Therefore it is exclusive by nature.

Uber, I hate to break it to you, but by your rationale your bike, my bike, and any other Japanese bike pales in comparison to Italian bikes and even "custom" choppers simply because they are not "exclusive" enough. While some people put a lot of stock in exclusivity, others do not. Others simply look at raw performance data. Still others focus on price points.
Thus, for some a $70,000 car that will outperform cars that are twice, even three time as expensive is pretty special. The fastest sportbikes are Japanese bikes that are mass-produced and far from exclusive when compared to the Ducatis, Benellis and MV Agustas of the world. To some that is also very special.
To each their own, I say. And as much as you or anyone else can say that Nissan
could make thousands of GT-Rs per month but they won't in order to create "the illusion of exclusivity," I must remind you that opinions of the product don't matter when it comes to exclusivity, numbers do. So, if they only make 1000 of something (even a Datsun), like it or not--it's exclusive.
