Considering it was douchbag rendell that got it implemented at all, it doesn't surprise me it's full of exceptions. The whole thing is close to unenforcable at all, and makes no sense what so ever. Seatbelts are mandatory, helmets are not. democrat common sense at play. It should be both mandatory, like New Jersey, or both optional, like New Hampshire.

or else look it up before you try to call someone out....
Who called out anyone? Read more throughly before you get all upset. I said I'm not sure I want to hear the story, but go ahead. You had the little laughing emoticon, so I assumed it was a funny story. If you don't wear a helmet, and I think your head isn't worth saving, you obviously are used to hearing that and don't care. So why now?

i agree. i wear mine, as it amount to suicide otherwise. just sayin....
the "story" was my attendance at MSF, which the gentleman (emericanchaos) will be attending soon.
I went to it as well, and recommend it to everyone. It seems cruiser types go without helmets more, except for the hispanic population in this area. Most sportbike riders seem to understand you will need your head later in life. Arms and legs mend, there is no hope once you are sucking through a straw for the rest of your days.

I didn't have a FTP attitude at all but i got pulled over a few weeks ago I was just chilling behind a car on a back road on my lunch break and a cop come whizzing up behind me, I thought there was a double homicide because he almost rammed me, I pulled over and to my surprise he did too. I'm not sure how fast I was going but it wasn't fast at all, I admit I may have been speeding slightly until I got to this car in front of me. Anyways I pull over and the first thing he says is "I hate motorcycles" I think "oh great, this douche bag is gonna give me a break for sure" he proceeds to give me a ticket for 80 in a 55 because "it took me a while to catch up" and improper license plate location (still plenty visible). $350 all in all. I was polite, and kept my cool, but fuming. I am contesting it in court because i think its absolute bullshit. Even if I have to pay more in court fees I dont even care that much because this is not fair, I need to stand up for my rights.
In the past i tried have minimal interaction with police just because what good could come of it? Its been 4 years since my last ticket (16 years old). I know not every cop is like this. But because of what I've seen the majority are and I suppose now have a FTP attitude, and I would seriously consider down shifting and twisting my wrist if I ever see red and blue in the mirrors. You may not agree...oh well.

Call his supervisor and mention the comment he made. Poor professionalism. I'm not sure about CT, but what method was listed on the citation? Radar, laser, etc...?

So just wondering, I thought there is no helmet law for you guys. and if the bike was made for two there isnt a law saying you cant ride like that. is there? So why would he stop the guy, just to say that he shouldn't do that cause it's dangerous?
We actually DO have a helmet law. The only way you can ride without a helmet if I can remember correctly is
Effective September 1, 1997, persons at least 21 years old are exempt from wearing a motorcycle helmet if they:
have successfully completed a motorcycle safety course, or
are covered by a health insurance plan providing the person with at least $10,000 in medical benefits for injuries incurred as a result of an accident while operating or riding upon a motorcycle.
That dude was a cholo-I dont think he went to MSF or even has insurance-but I tell ya what-ima find out and ima find out like this weekend.
Regardless, I see alot of people without helmets and it makes me wonder if they even have a MC license.

There is this road near my house that is pretty well known and is infamous for its tight corners and butt hole puckering elevation changes. Well, one day two friends and I were hitting the twisty section of that road pretty hard. I had heard that cops started posting up along this road so the front runner brought along a radar detector (I brought up the rear).
Well the dectetor went off and he signaled for everyone to slow down. Sure enough a few seconds later we cruised by a cop parked at a stop sign on an intersecting road. As soon as we passed him he pulls out behind us and starts following. We get to a stop sign. My friend in front waits for some traffic and pulls in front to create some distance. Right when friend #2 pulls onto the road the officer lights up and takes off after him. I'm sitting there wondering why he didn't pull me over...
Well I catch up with the first guy and we wait in a nearby parking lot. #2 comes over after about 10-15 mins and says he got sited for reckless driving! The cop claimed he heard our tires/exhaust and he "saw" my friend cross the double yellow, even though we slowed down well before we came into contact with him.
Needless to say my friend got a lawyer and went to court. We all went together since we felt bad that he was the only one to get a ticket. This is the good part...the cop's version of what occured sounded like something out of The Fast and the Furious or some shit. He claimed that he saw three "Need for Speed Underground-type cars" fly by him at excess speed and he saw one of us cross the double yellow. The judge had a puzzled look on his face and asked him to elaborate on what he ment by "Need for Speed cars." The cop replies by saying we were all lowered, rims, carbon fiber, neons, the whole shabang. My friend provided pictures of all our cars which looked nothing like his description. The judge actually laughed out loud at the cop and dismissed all charges. We all waved at the cop as we left. He was absolutely FUMING. My friend was the first case to be heard that morning and I'm pretty sure that cop was not taken too seriously after that.

That is why I carry a camera in my tank bag for all my riding. YOu get that uneducated momo to state "I'm citing you for 80 because it took a lil while 2 catch up" and if the judge has half a brain at all it's gonna get tossed. It'll be even better if you get it on tape and he tells the judge he clocked you,if it isn't on the ticket/in how he stated he ascertained your speed. Shoulda asked the cop to put it in writing buddy.
