Default Gas prices strategy

This just might work.

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It's worthy of your consideration.

Join the resistance! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by summer and it might possibly go higher! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around earlier! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we woul! dn't co ntinue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.

BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do ! that WI THOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of 2007, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people.

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to at least ten more (30 x 10 =3D 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 =3D 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will! have r eached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you?

Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR P! RICES T O THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

You still have to buy gas. If you don't buy it from the big 2, you're going to buy from the smaller companies. When they can't supply the demand, who would the smaller companies turn to? The big 2. Then it'll be their profit added to the smaller company's profit and it'll be more expensive.

Um, tate, please stop spamming this chain letter on all the motorcycle boards.

Crap like this will not and can not work.

The only way for consumers to have any influence on the price of oil products is by a genuine reduction in consumption, not stupid shell games like this.

it doesnt matter who you buy the gas from because when its all said and done, all the oil comes from the same place

sorry but either way we go, if we protest, we stop buying for a day, etc . gas is like insurance we have to have it no matter what we do, an the government etc all know this. this includes over seas knows we cant function without it and they have the rights and the land so they can name their price. they are already predicting the price of fuel to sail over 3.00 a gallon by the summer if not the end of summer and probably wont come back down unless this middle east crap gets fixed and the war stops in iraq.
so all you can do is hope for the best pay the price same with the insurance war you got to have it and you got to pay it just finding the cheapiest one that will benefit you the most

It's complete garbage. It's supply and demand. Prices aren't going down unless we can cheaply get more reserves opened up. Even if we get higher mpg vehicles, that still doesn't incline them to lower prices.

Or....

If we actually started drilling both off shore and in places suchs as Alaska, we could significantly increase our reserves and put us off "foreign oil dependance" that you speak of.

This is a ridiculous idea it will not work and everyone who bitches about gas prices needs to take a look at inflation over the years and how much here in America are saved from this on gas prices. Look at prices in other countries; we pay much less. Also take a look at how much you are willing to pay for a 16 oz. bottle of water and you say the price of gas is high.

Most of the people whining about the prices don't exactly drive the most fuel efficient cars either...

i have a chevy full size truck that just got his butt parked due to high gas b/c he does not get great gas mileage, i have a honda accord v-6 that gets great mileage but still 45.00-50.00 for a tank of gas when im working 2 jobs just to support my gas and everything else b/c if gas was not so high i would not have to work as much or hard
and i agree with the guy below about natural gas mine tripled over the winter months which was another major issue having to pay to gas bills but this is life and we will have to deal with it until they straighten out the overseas drama in iraq and get our oil back

Funny if that would work but you know what this shows the lack of most peoples understanding of Fuel Distribution. Mobil owns the Fuel Distribution center here in the Flint area. No matter if you are BP or a ma & pa place you all get Mobil gas...LOL The only differance is what additives the various drivers add to the tanker. But the ma & pa place might also get those if they are on their route for that tanker *shrug*

So pretty much you will still be buying Mobil gas, just will have a BP or a Citgo name on it when you buy it...funny how that works...LOL
