Personally, I'm a fan of LEOs. But let's not forget what the "EO" stands for...it's not Economic Opportunity.
From DFW's NBC5i.com:
A North Texas police department is under investigation for writing too many traffic tickets.
Members of the Red Oak Police Department said they were forced to write hundreds of tickets to meet financial goals. Police departments in Texas are not allowed to have traffic enforcement quotas.
Officials said the officers voiced their complaints to the City Council, who brought in a special investigator. Officials said the investigator put the chief and assistant chief of police on administrative leave after one day on the job.
“They were being threatened with termination, no raises and no advancement,” Councilmember Ben Goodwyn said.
A councilmember said that one officer wrote 559 tickets in one month some for people who were driving 5 mph over the speed limit.
Resident Chris Moses said the police should be protecting residents.
“They’re out here writing all these tickets with these nice Chrysler 300 patrol cars and not out patrolling our streets,” he said.

Hmmm... touchy situation. Police depts need to make sure officers are enforcing traffic laws but protecting the citizens first. I guess the bottom line is that if you obey traffic laws you have nothing to worry about.
Things like that are the reason that I decided I could never be a police officer. Detective and such would be a different story, but a traffic cop, no way. I'd have turned in my badge.
I recently read that some of the MP's in Iraq are issuing speeding tickets to OUR TROOPS!
I can visualize some 18 year old E-2 MP giving a speeding ticket to my old 1st Sgt in the middle of a combat zone. Lets just say that Private MP would be getting a little more than . It would be an asschewing he wouldn't soon forget.

I heard about that months ago on the news.
Once I drove from Indianapolis to Austin, no breaks. It was actually the same time during Hurricane Katrina, my buddy's car got flooded by the storm when we were going through AK.
Moral of the story, we counted LEO's just for the hell of it. We counted 48 during the drive out actually driving on the same road as us. 41 were on I-35 between North Dallas and South Dallas, and almost everyone of them had someone pulled over.
Trust me, Dallas has PLENTY of crime to be dealt with more serious than traffic violations.
id like to think im a victim but ive never gotten a ticket for less than 18 over...

no the bottom line is:
"A councilmember said that one officer wrote 559 tickets in one month some for people who were driving 5 mph over the speed limit."
this was in an effort to 'fleece' the public for millions of dollars.

Good for them... now if someone would just come in and investigate our "Criminal Court" Judges. The taxpayers are paying to have us protect them, their belongings, and etc and nothing is happening to the caught criminal once they reach our "Criminal Court" (which is for Felonies), because persons charged in "General Sessions Court" are getting more fines and jail time for misdemeaners. And that just isn't justice!!!!!!!!!! In fact criminals can be quoted in saying they come here to our county to commit crimes against persons and property because they know our two Criminal Court Judges won't do anything to them.
