ARGH! We covered this ad nauseum several months back. We had engineers in here arguing, we had physics majors arguing. We got links to engineer geek boards where they argued the point. LOL EEK!!!

and you're WRONG because you can't see the simple fact that the wheels have nothing to do w/ the forward or backward motion of the airplane.

It doesnt matter if the conveyor matches the speed of the plane. Like I said in my FIRST post, that would only apply if the question stated that the conveyor matched the speed of the plane's WHEELS.

Yah, I'm a post whore. I've been a member of this forum for longer than most...and yet my post count is THOUSANDS less than many others that have been here for the same amount of time.

And just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view on a problem that has no answer doesn't mean that they are deluded.

I guess I just simply disagree with you then. No harm no foul.

I feel that the plane's not going to take off if the conveyor is travelling at a speed that is identical to the airplanes at all time.

I am listening to what you're saying...and I can understand what you're saying.

I simply think you are reading the question wrong and therefore have formed a wrong theory about this.

But you don't see me calling you an idiot, now, do you?

The only way the motion of the plane could be tied to the motion of the conveyor belt is if the wheels generated enough friction to move the plane. Since the wheels are relatively frictionless, they can spin at any velocity they want and not effect the motion of the plane.
