I have a bowflex extreme it ROCKS, it helped me gain muscle fast when I was training in fire school during the spring. I definitley recommend it, but its not cheap... I heard the company does offer a financing package .

^^^Well yea, generally if you PAY for a gym membership you are more inclined to go on a regular basis. But generally if you buy a bowflex your gonna be making payments on it as well so that would give you some motivation to use it.
As far as adding muscle mass, a bowflex won't do it alone, what you need to do is use the bowflex in conjunction with your free wieghts. Bowflexes take advantage of all the secondary and tertiary muscles used in a given excersise so it will really tone you up and make you stronger, bu by far free wieghts are the best thing for building muscle mass. The trick is to not let your muscles get accustom to any 1 routine or excersise pattern so you should use equal amounts free wieghts and bowflex to keep your muscles shocked.
My dad has a bowflex/free wieghts and when I was living with him while I was waiting to close on my house I used his home gym everyday, and it was nice, but I am a motivated person when it comes to working out so I always push myself to my limits.
If your having trouble getting motivated the best workout tool is a workout partner, find someone who you can be competitive with, who is serious about working out, and who's schedule matches yours and you'll notice that you'll push yourself harder, you'll skip less workouts, and you'll be able to do more(spotters are invaluable).

id say just go to the gym, its almost impossible to get motivated at home. for what youd pay for some good home equipment you can just buy a years membership and some personal training sessions if need be.
dude you got to see Pumping Iron w/t Arnold & Lou. Drink 2 cups of coffee within 2 hours of working out & this should help you get motivated.. but you need a partner in crime to spot & eventually you;ll both get into it

Join the YMCA. The benefits far outweigh the monthly membership costs and are far cheaper than purchasing a Bowflex (or similar).
I had the same deliberation as you are and my wife finally talked me into getting the gym membership. It is too easy to become distracted at home, you cant perform nowhere near the amount of exercises, or afford the machinery that is offered at a gym. Also, at the Y you are able to join various classes (cycling, aerobics, etc) if you desire. In addition, THEY HAVE A POOL, whirlpools AND sauna's in both MEN and WOMEN locker rooms!
yea but I always get kicked out of the women's one!!!!
Well...shave your armpits/back and you probably will not scare them so badly. Although, there is nothing much you can do, beyond plastic surgery, for that mug of yours.

Are you all of a sudden interested in a girl who likes big dudes? JK.
Dude, down here in Flawda, winter doesn't last long enough to put on 15-25 pounds of muscle. At least without serious roid usage. From watching my wife and her sisters, if your not motivated to work out at home, you won't be after spending mucho $$$ on a gym membership.

FYI - Its $40/mo to join the YMCA = much cheaper alternative to a $1400 Bowflex for determining if you are going to be disciplined enough to workout regularly.

Youll actually make your best gains in the first two months then it slows down. But I agree 15-25 lbs is a bit much of a goal to be shooting for how about 8lbs of muscle and losing 8lbs of fat. Then it would look like you put on 16 lbs of muscle.
The biggest problems with staying motivated is not having short term goals. If your only goal is to get bigger than you will most likely fail. Try just saying your gonna train consistantly for a month and go from there

So there are two different kinds of muscle? The tone kind you get w/a bowflex and the some other kind you get with free weights?
This is garbage. There is only muscle. The only two kinds are slow and fast twitch, not toned and fatty. Toned is simple muscle w/o the fat over it.
Personally, i think working out at home is a total joke. I would never be able to stick to a program or routine if i had the option of just sitting around a watching tv instead of lifting.
I also think bowflexes are great for people who are simply trying to increase their tendon strength, up their heart rate, get a bit of resistance training, and increase bone density. I think they blow for bulking up.
