Default Value Place in Asheville??

We just booked this hotel in Asheville. There are NO REVIEWS anywhere on the web for it. Does anybody know anything about it? Decent part of town? Any problems you know of?

I am taking the family there so no bike this time. What is there to do besides the Biltmore House?

Dont know about the hotel but check out Barley's downtown, great pizza and any beer you could ask for. Doc Sheys(spelling?) is a noodle place, awesome noodle bowls, get the rolls with the plum sauce. Your in the heart of some of the best rides on the east coast, too bad no scooter.

If you want a hotel that is new, clean and extremely safe, especially for your bike Value Place has it going on. Full Kitchens, and they don't bother you. Great staff and everything is at your fingertips. Close to the downtown club scenes and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tell them I mentioned you when you check in..they have great connections. The cool people stay there. Asheville Rocks.

Biltmore House

Hiking

Tubing

Whitewater rafting

Grove Park Inn

You could easily spend a day walking around downtown and taking in the culture

Arboretum

Folk Art Center

Blue Ridge Parkway of course

Tons of shopping and restaurants in Biltmore Village

Ghost Town is about 45 minutes away in Maggie Valley

Dollywood is probably 1.5 hours away just over the border in Tennessee

Pisgah National Forest is about 30 minutes away down in Brevard. They have sliding rock there, shining rock, the fish hatchery, and lots of waterfalls if you want to take a short hike.

Battery Park (I think that's what its called) Also check out Wall Street, its a short stroll from Battery Park and really unique.

You should be able to find enough on that list to keep you busy.

Restaurants. Tupelo Honey Cafe, Biltmore Estate, Grove Park Inn, College Street Pub, Charlotte Street Grille, Mellow Mushroom, Thirsty Monk (really just good for beer and appetizers), Flying Frog, The Bier Garden (mostly just for drinks though), Apollo Flame Bistro, Ichiban (the kind of Japanese place where they toss the food on a flat grill in front of you, great sushi also)... There are more places, I'm just drawing blanks now.

More restaurants, Jack O' the Wood, Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company (they have 2 movie theaters).

You can also take a drive down to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. You'll drive through Bat Cave on your way, there really is a town called Bat Cave. You can also check out the Asheville Mall. Friday nights there is the drum circle in the square downtown (it's really a triangle shape), Tupelo Honey/College Street Grill/Thirsty Monk are all within seeing distance of the square.

Hey guys,

I got back from vacation in NC this weekend. I would HIGHLY recommend the Value Place in Asheville. You are in the heart of everything. The rooms are clean, the staff is awesome, and you will not beat the weekly price. This will be our place of choice from now on.

Talmadge, It was great to meet you. Thanks for the ideas and the great deal on tickets. Talmadge is the man to see if you need Asheville information.

We went to the downtown area, The Biltmore Estate, The Asheville Tourists minor league game, white water rafting, Linville Caverns, Chimney Rock, all over the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Park, Bryson City and everywhere in between. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

The weather is going to be nice all weekend long. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the 40s to 50s. Enjoy your ride and be safe. Take more pictures if you can. I enjoyed your photos of Biltmore!

Well, Got back last night. Rained about half the time we were there so we only got in about 400 miles on the bikes. I still have the new things on my tires, I am very disappointed. The rain really held me back. My dad somehow blew a seal for the air pressure in his forks on his touring bike so the last 100 miles where very slow as he kept bottoming out. We had some business that had to be taken care of while there so that killed at least a day of riding.

Talmadge was great as always as well as the staff at the Value Place.

The way I look at it was if it rained everyday there, A bad day on vacation is better then a good day at work!

Heres a pic of myself and my Dad..Don't know why I wasn't smiling...

A pic of the view from Mount Mitchell

View out of the hotel Sunday morning

And looking glass falls again
