Default What kind of tires are these?

Can anyone tell me what kind of tires these are? It looksl ike they say SPORTMA on the sidewall, but I've never heard of them. I googled sportma + tire and a couple hits for Dunlop Sportma came up, but one was from a car forum. My brother's considering buying this bike and I'm just curious what kind of tires these are...

That would be SPORTMAX.

I'd say they are D208's by the look of the front tread.

Not a terrible tire, but it's one of those things that you either love or hate. I think they were on sale for 160 bucks a set at cyclegear last month, fyi.

Do you know if they sell those in the US? I can only find them on the Dunlop UK site.

They don't make them anymore, hence them not appearing on the Dunlop website. They discontinued them a couple months ago.

It WAS their highest performing street tire until the Qualifier replaced it.

When i said they were not terrible.... i was kind of lying to make you feel better.

They are fine until you get a few thousand miles on them.... then they lose grip quickly. According to most people.

Some people say they are the greatest tire ever made. It's a strange tire that way.

I had some on my Katana and hated them. They worked ok. At least as far as being tires. Nothing special, though.

Those came stock from the factory. They are Dunlops Sportmax. If you still have the sticker on your bike with the tire pressure it also has the stock Dunlop Model. I ran them to the cords in the same time as Pilot Powers and the Metz Z6

I hated those shits with a passion, but too cheap to swap out the front until I'm done using it The back was quickly replaced with a Z6.

I ran the predecessor, D207, on my R6 for 2 track days and they weren't terrible. The not good part was they they got hot, they got greasy and slide quite a bit. Now it's easy to manage on something like an R6, but that's about it.

I've always felt their profile lent itself to slower transitions which I was never a fan of.

For the same price as the Qualifiers you can get the Pilot Powers or the Corsa3's... I wouldn't pick the Dunlops but YMMV.

I've ridden on both of those tires and they were great.

I still recommend the Bridgestone BT-002Rs tires, though. They are the new dual compound ones....

Damned amazing. That is all. Not sure on tire life, yet.... but grip is fantastic and the profile is awesome.

It's my next go. I was in love with everything about the BT012SS, except the tire life.
