new to area, could use help choosing dealer/shop
So we (the wife and I) just moved to the RTP area. After 5 years living in the Midwest, where the only curves are, well, somewhere else, I'm glad to be living in an area where the roads curve. I'm also looking to get another sportbike, as I've been without one of those for almost 4 years.
I know I want an r6. Not much debate on that one. I've made up my mind. What I don't know is which dealer and shop. I'd like to buy the bike from the same people that will work on it, but I'd much rather have a great shop than simply getting a great deal on the bike. I'm also not above driving out of the immediate Durham/Raleigh area to get a good shop. I've recently visited shops from Burlington to north and south Raleigh, and several in between.
So, for those of you with experience with the area shops, which shops in the RTP area do you get good service from? Which shops should I avoid at all costs? Which shops do you like for general work, like tires changes, warranty work, service work, etc, etc? Just general work really. I've been reading some of the older posts, and Matison's seems like a place to avoid in general. I've already been there and was treated like a criminal just for looking at the bikes, so I already know they aren't getting a dime of my money.
Thanks for any and all advice. I hope I'm out and riding with you guys soon!

I've had decent experiences with Iron Thunder and Team Powersports for service. although all I had done was tire purchase and installation. Sorry, I'm poor, can't buy new bikes, so I can't comment on sales. I'm still up in the air on Matison. I keep thinking I'll give them the benfit of the doubt. Tomorrow is the make or break day though!

I did that. Even after all the bad posts, and went and was going to buy a gixxer. The guy said the finance people were closed and hed run the number and call me the next day. Never called. I called them 5 times and each time he was "With a customer" and I left a message. Still nothing.
Went in there a few days later and he didnt even know who I was. Bad service.
But that IS just MY experience. Cant speak for anyone else. NOR can I speak good or bad about the others, Ive never been to them.

Yeah, I don't know wtf Matison is doing? Spending money on showrooms and large stocks of bikes, but no parts in stock? No customer service? I mentioned this in another thread, but I had a friend buy a brand new bike a few weeks ago. He lives really close to Matison, and decided he wanted a Yamaha. He went in there 2 or 3 times and could never get any help. Drove across town after his last visit, and spent $11,000 at Team Powersports. I've seen potential customers walk out angry after not being able to find anyone to sell them a bike. Must be nice to be able to afford sh!tty customer service like that!

Thanks for the input guys. Seems like Matison is on the outs with a few of you as well. I don't know what it was with those guys. I go in, I'm wandering around, sitting on a few of uncrowded bikes, generally checking out the accessories, helmets, parts, etc. There are only a few other customers in the place. I get completely ignored by everybody. From the guy hanging gloves up for display to the salesman. I actually got a dirty look from one of the employees as I was walking up the stairs to look at the 'exotic' models. "Well, excuse me!", I thought. I walked out immediately after that. I don't plan on going back.

Thanks for the invitation. A PM will be forthcoming, count on it. I live just a few exits away from Triangle Cycles, so I was hoping they would get good responses, or at least no bad ones.
Thanks again to everybody!

Yeah, Matison is a strange place. The only person who speaks to me is the sales guy who I bought my scooter from. I go in there from time to time because it is only 5 minutes from my house, but no one has ever asked me if I needed any help or anything when I go in. Triangle Cycles and Team Powersports have always spoken to me when I walk in and check on me occasionally as I browse through the gear and bikes. I have never had any service except at Matison, so I can't comment on that.

I have to plug Team Powersports for their service department - they've always been very professional and knowledgeable every time I've been there. I also bought a bunch of gear for my wife there and the accessories salesman was great. No experience with bike sales tho.
I did have a sales guy ask me if I needed help and talked w/ me for a while one time at Matison however, ymmv.

Been to team powersports a couple of times, and they are beyond excellent. I am one of the few who have had more than stellar service from Matison. Every single time I have been in there whether for service or to shoot the shit they have always come up to me.
