Default CT scans are cool!

I got to take home a CD with the data from a CT scan of my shoulder taken yesterday. The disc even has a cool viewer for looking at the stuff, and includes this cool 3D rendering of my mending scapula: (click for full size)

Reason #564876 why you wait until the bike stops before dismounting...

That's pretty cool! Too bad that's what your shoulder looks like - I hope you heal up soon!

How long do you expect that to heal?

At this point, the scapula fracture isn't really causing me any trouble. The joint there is fine (I also separated my AC joint), and I can move the arm through a good range of motion- but not "under its own power", so to speak. After seeing the orthopedist today and having an MRI done, he's ruled out nerve damage or a rotator cuff injury, so for now it's just wait and see. Right now I can shrug the shoulder through nearly a full range of motion, but I can barely pivot the arm at the shoulder at all.

I have sat on the bike and physically lifted my left arm onto the bar, but "press left, go left" ain't happening. I expect it'll probably be another month at least before I'm able to ride. Which gives me lots of time to fab up my new front fairing/flyscreen! I already replaced the fucked-up bars, and I've got a mirror on the way. This afternoon I pulled the cans, wire-brushed the rust off the rashed areas, and sprayed 'em with some high-heat paint. She'll be ready before I am...

sounds like it's coming along good, hope you heal up quickly! I know it sucks to get knocked out right at the beginning of the season
