Saw a Biker Go Down Today
Today me, Hanya and some of her friends went riding through some back roads in raleigh. As we were passing by a lake entrance this old asian man pulls out of the turn lane, infront of a biker going 40-45. the biker panics, locks up the rear brake, oversteers, and highsides right into the side of the old mans suv. We of course all stopped to see how he was. He was moaning and writhing in pain, but didnt seem seriously injured. You always read about this kind of stuff and think how you need to be more alert and watch out for assholes like that, but it never hit home untill i witnessed a crash. I know i will be much more aware of people waiting to turn left infront of me.

the people who were around him talking to him said he claimed to not be able to feel his back at first, but a little later said he could. some dumb asses were like "take his helmet off, take his helmet off" but someone with some sense was like nooooooooo dont do that, hold his head still. so i think he should be okay, he was moving his limbs
Holy shit. Stay alert and practice those emergency stops. Locking up the rear at speed sucks. Let us know how the recovery goes. Did the police get involved? Did anyone get cited for anything?

Yikes! Glad the rider turned out OK (or so it sounds).
I had my first "cager-trying-to-kill-me" moment today. Was riding through NCSU on Dan Allen, and some oblivious lady turning left out of the lot behind Student Health went out right in front of me. I was watching her the whole time, saw it coming, and was on the brakes the moment she came out into the road. Well, at this point, she looks back, sees me, and then stops her car in the path of incoming traffic. I was still moving, so I went on past her. I gave her a dirty look, but it probably wasn't visible through the tinted shield.

this is why i choose not to honk at people who pull out infront of me. im scared they will panic and stop in the damn lane and block my path. it pisses me off that there is nothing i can legally do about moron drivers who endanger us daily. oh well cops came to the accident, i dont know if the old man got cited but he sure as shit should have
i hate to say it.. but this thread is worthless w/o pics. prob the last thing on ur mind... i try to always carry my digi in my pocket on rides to take picts of this stuff.
that my next crash i can see it cage pullin out in front of me and me tboning them
also last night.. i was riding home and saw what appeared to be a scooter riding the curb of the road on high house. then he pulled all the way over and stopped. turned out it was a rebel 250. i u turned to see if he was ok. and he got it running again and waved. he went down creek park (my part of the hood) so i followed. at the stop sign he said he ran outta gas and had to switch to reserve. i asked him if this was his first bike (haha i just knew it) he said yeah. i gave him a couple pointers ie not riding the curb etc. he was grateful. lookin back prob shoulda given him my number if he needed more help. but im pretty busy now a days with my own shit.

worthless without pics? wtf would a picture do? its not like you would magically see the crash if you had a pic of the bike/rider on the ground. the driver pulled out of the road after the crash, and the bike was moved. i am simply explaining what happened to make others aware and make them think about the situation. it is good that u stopped to help that guy out though. i think some people should really research a little more before committing to buying a bike. its a dangerous sport and isnt for everyone.
was this by lake johnson. if so i heard the ambulance and stuff. didnt thank anything of it but then my girls room mate said a biker went down by the lake and i was like of shit. thought it was someone i rode with

We weren't riding with the guy. He was on an old Honda 450. He said he was 17. We (Wing Chun Warrior) saw it happen, so he stayed to talk to the police. If you don't want to read about it, don't click on teh thread! We didn't take any pics because he was pretty much ok and it was just a bike on the ground, it's not like we could have gotten the wreck on film or something. I think the point of this thread is that we saw a new rider get hurt and it was pretty scary. If you've been riding for 10 years it won't have the same impact and someone who's only been riding 1 or 2.
