just curious...why did you start on a 750?

My friend was getting rid of it and I had ridden it just as many times as he has and was used to it so i just snagged it up. I took the test on it and everything. It was a 89 so not the most powerful thing ever but it was still a tank. And I'm about 5'11 and 155 lbs or so...

I bought my Ninja 250 because I had just had double bypass surgery and needed something real light until my chest healed. I had every intention of selling this bike at the earliest opportune moment. Not now -- no way -- I'm selling some of my other bikes instead.

I weigh 297 pounds and I am geared at 15/42 and the longest trip thus far has been from eastern Georgia to Chicago, Illinois.

I intend on keeping this bike and have put a double bubble windshield, progressive springs, handlebar risers, brake pads, two Brothers exhaust, KN air filter, full carburetor kit, (Gel insert, Alaska butt pad on top of that, one box of corn starch -- smile), stainless steel braided brake lines, new tires, GPS, coffee cup holder, a little valve work and Cam grind. I love it.

Goes into high gear at 72 mile an hour. it throws my fat rear end around just fine.

Geared 15/42 and average from 64 to 71 but its how you rev it and how you ride it. My friend gets 51 to 62 and thats riding with each other on a trip.

I've had mine for over a year. The only complaints I have is the fact that it isn't fuel injected, and you have to shift like mad.

I wish it was fuel injected most of the time also but then again, that would dictate expensive shop time, where as now, I can do carbs myself.

I've had my 250 for about 1.5 yrs and 12k miles. I've enjoyed every mile on this bike. It will handle long trips/hwy miles just fine, and can be a blast in the turns as well! I put a ZX600 shock in the rear, and sonic springs/new oil up front. Pirelli sport demons... this thing handles amazingly well now. I can carry more entry speed on the turns then my friends on literbikes just because I'm so much lighter. Granted, once we get to the straight they dissappear, but on a twisty road I can easily hang with them. I love this bike and will be keeping it. I've ridden 3 different 600's and of course there's an enourmous difference in power, and the suspension/braking of a 600ss is amazing... but it's never left me feeling like I wish I didn't have the 250. I like keeping up with (or passing) the big guys on my little bike. Oh and I'm 6' 230lbs.

Here's a video I made a while back might give you some idea of it's performance:

Why is it so hard to shift?

I believe he meant you have to shift very often.

The one thing that prevented me from buying a 2008 was the design change (but I am old-fashioned and find change, especially the new look hard to go along with). If Kawasaki was to fuel injected these bikes and add variable timing, I would gladly pay the price difference and jump all over it.

I agree, Kawasaki would make a lot of money if the 250R's were fuel injected
