Default Tires

Does anybody know if I can fit 17" rims off a 500 onto my '93 250.. The width seems to be the same.... It seems like there is more choices in 17'' tires

not without ALOT of work...

have you tryed looking at some...
Pirelli Sport Demons?
Pirelli MT75?
Bridgestone BT45?

I just picked up a set of Prellis Here:
Front - DennisKirk.com - Pirelli Diablo Performance Sport Scooter Front Tires

Rear - DennisKirk.com - Pirelli Diablo Performance Sport Scooter Rear Tires

they may be labeled as scooter tires but I've heard numerous good reviews on them and the come in stock sizes unlike the sport demons in wich you have to raise front fender for clearance..

I've always heard the Diablos are AWESOME tires for the money. Great grip and good longevity.

As far as the original question goes...if you're going to spend the time and money putting some larger rims on the bike, why not just spend the time and money putting a different swingarm and front end on it so that you could mount up some wheels directly off of a newer bike.

Like, I'm pretty sure you could find SOME form of brand new bike that's steering stem would match that of the 250. Then you'd just put the triples from that newer bike onto the 250 frame. Then you'd have newer style forks which would mate up to their respective wheel. The back end would be a bit more difficult, because I don't know that you'd find a swingarm that would be a direct fit...

I put on the MT75's recently, and don't really have any complaints. Handling and turn-in are awesome. Actually the only complaint is the raise the rev's a wee bit on the highway, but 10K or 10.5K isn't a huge deal

Can't tell, because the Kerker exhaust is so fucking loud.

Seriously.

It's louder than my boss's Harley and a co-workers Kawasaki 1500cc cruiser something.

Continental TKV11/12 are a good combo for a Ninja 250.

Gt 501's are a great tire. Went 130/90 on the back and 110/90 on the front. If only they had the 100/90 in the states. I haven't had any problems with the tires. Wider grip, last a lot longer. Put about 3k on them so far, and not showing a lot of wear.

I spooned on a set yesterday. Might take it for ride today, not sure. I did notice that they are 2ply and not 3-4 ply tires and max pressure is 33 psi. I'm gonna do a track day with them next Sunday. Unless they give me any problems at the beginning, I will be beating this thing out there for all it's worth. Soooooo, I hope they give me some feed back.

Now the emulators I put in a few weeks ago are a nice touch if you have the $$ to do them. Then helped the bad shimmy I'd get when the front tire started to wear. Why it did it? I have no idea, but the valving seemed to squelch it pretty good. Smoother on the bumps too. But I have had the springs for a few years, so the improvement wasn't as great doing both at the same time. AND REMEMBER!! If you go by the instructions posted on the Ninja 250 board, drill both of the extra holes ABOVE!!!! the original damping hole!!!

Diablo tires did ok on the track. Was a cold morning, maybe 50's first time out, night was about 39. So track wasn't warmed up. They did pretty good, can't complain. Only took it out 2wice. Ran about 31 which is a little guestimate. 33 is max for that tire. They turn on pretty quick and started to get a little boogers on them. On a hot day, I can't tell you how'd they do but I wouldn't be skeert to give them a try. Also I noticed they are a 2ply tires not 3 like some of the others.
