i've been reading a lot about the Ninja 250R and Hyosung GT250R.
There's a used Ninja 250 for sale locally and I'm looking for some opinions about it:
2006 Ninja 250 with less than 1400 miles. Brand new condition. Black with Silver tribal flames and black wheels.
Bought June '06, first oil change at 1400 miles(!!!) then garaged in Sept '06 until April '07
The maintenance worries me a bit as I'm not sure if the valves have been adjusted and as far as I know the bike went to 1400 miles before having it's oil changed. If I find out any more info regarding maintenance I will respond to this thread.
Any advice on this used 250 would be very helpful.
A local dealer is selling new' 07s for MSRP + $50 fee, and no sales tax in New Hampshire.

You know man, I've never really bought into the "break in period" stuff.
Maybe it's just because I've never had a brand new bike, but I have had brand new cars and the stealership has never said anything about getting a bunch of maintenance done on the car after only a few months.
I'd say go and start the 2006 and listen to it. If it sounds fine, it probably is.
As far as a fair price goes, I'm not sure on that. I've seen 2006s go for the same price as a brand new one in certain areas...

I say go start it and look at it. Unless there is a MAJOR oil leak leaking from the cases and a loud as hell noise upon start up, then it is probably okay. Once you get it home, change the oil and be done with it.
As for fair price, probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500-3000 (only because it is last years model and in "brand new" condition). YOu could go with 2500 cash in hand and offer that and see what he says (if it is more than that)

Gimp, I know what you mean. I didn't follow the exact manufacturer's recommended break-in with my Jeep and I've had no problems with it at 30k
I got an update from the seller. It actually has less than 1200 miles on it.
Apparently he also brought it in at 500 miles to be "checked over" so I'm not sure if that means the valves were checked and oil changed or not.

If he's asking $2500 or best reasonable offer, take $2500 cash with you but tell him you've only got $2200.
See if he bites.

yep, I agree w/Gimp, that is a more than fair price. I'd snatch that thing up in a heartbeat.
