Are these good deals? Still a noob
Hello!!
I'm looking into the middleweight division in the sportbike world. The mighty 600! I'm on Craigslist. Going to pay cash. Was wondering if I could have some guidance when it comes to getting a good deal. So an help or knowledgable insight would be helpful. Here are the two bikes I've found.
The first is a 2003 Honda F4i with between 17k to 18k miles on it for $2600
Here's the link
Honda Cbr 600cc
And second so far is a 2002 GSXR 600 with 6k miles for $3000.
02 SUZUKI GSXR 600 MATTE BLACK 3D CARBON FIBER TANK ( LOW MILES )
I don't know which is cheaper to fix or maintain. So please leave any guidance even neither of these bikes along with your own suggestion. Name is phill. Thank you

Are you new to street riding? If yes, an I4 600 is not a good choice.
These bikes both have replacement plastics, so they've been down. You need to look them over carefully and test ride them. Make sure the bike pulls and brakes straight, and shifts smoothly up and down the gears. Check the fork seals for any signs of leaking. Check the chain. If the chain is rusted, or has bad tight spots, it's a good indication the bike has been neglected. Ask about maintenance history - how often were the fluids changed, has he checked valve clearance, etc.
If there's anything you don't feel good about, walk away. Used 600s are easy to come by, so you can afford to be picky.

the 02 gsxr has been crashed. no one pays to put flat paint on their bike on purpose.
and the f4i is not the same as the cbr 600rr fwi. neither seems overly priced to me. they are listed OBO

It never ceases to amaze me how guys will sell a piece of crap to a person, take his money, and go to sleep at night. You really gotta know your stuff to find a well-maintained machine. The Latin phrase is 'Caveat Emptor!'.

The CBR isn't a bad deal, but I'd offer like 2400.
And off topic, I cannot STAND it, when people buy a bike and don't ride it. I mean, the Suzuki is a 2002, and has only 6,000 miles on it? 600 miles a year? GRRR....

Thank you sir I'm trying to stay patient so that I don't screw myself. And seriously!!!!!!!!!!!! Like wth did you get a bike for of you're not going to ride it?? I'm very new to riding. I have only 4000 miles under my belt, but it's been consistent since I've had my bike since only this May. I planned on getting a larger bike but figured I should keep my head on my shoulders and got a 250. I'm pretty sure I'm looking into a 600 early but it's honestly what would make me happy!
But really? Why 6000 miles in 10 years? Unless he's ridden it 106000 miles and the odometer reads 6000 for that reason. I mean a guy on youtube proved his F4i went 200,000 miles. Odometer reset after 99,999
Any other suggestions though? Is this the most reliable bike? Is there a special treat of a bike I'm missing here?

Wow didn't even notice that. It couldn't just be adjusted at a weird angle? I know when I back out of my driveway between my car and the house, sometimes the space is a bit too narrow and the left mirror sometimes hits the house hard enough to adjust it to a weird position.

Well the gsxr isn't even posted on craigslist anymore. He must have just recently sold it.

That guy on youtube is here, named thirdgenlxi. And he NOW has 250,000 miles, and 6 trackdays. http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/pic...-pics-too.html
And the right mirror isn't jacked, it's just an odd angle. click on the other pics, and the mirror is fine.

I think that Honda looks pretty good. I'm sure that exhaust is annoying as shit, but I'll bet you can find a stocker sitting in someone's garage for cheap.
One question. Did the F4i come in the Repsol colors, or were the fairings trashed and swapped out for some ChiCom replacements? It's not a huge deal, but it would be good to know. The best way to tell if a bike has been crashed is to look at the ends of the levers, mirrors, etc. Again, it's not a huge deal but it's good to know.

I'm not Sure if it came with those fairings. Im waiting for the seller to email me back about the F4i. But like the guy above said, I think it's the 600rr that has those repsol fairings but I'm not 100% sure. I'm going to look into it. It's hard trusting people on Craigslist which is why I bought my 250 at a dealer. Still searching for something that's NOT too good to be true though lol.
I've looked up and down Craigslist. NJ is divided into Central Jersey, South, North and Jersey Shore. Ill find a bike soon hopefully.
