Looking for a used motorcycle, need suggestions!

Hi guys,

I've ridden for a while but took a huge break. My last bike was a F4i that was beautiful to ride. In spring 2013 I'll be looking to buy a motorcycle. I just had a few questions:

1) What bike is the best for $4000? That's probably my upper limit. I was thinking of a 05' CBR 600rr or 05' Kawi 636 but I'm not sure if others have better features or I should be looking in a specific year.

2) Does season affect bike prices? Will spring be more expensive than fall/winter?

Thank for the help

Yeah, season does affect bike prices. But it also affects availability, too. Since didn't put anything in your profile about where you life though, its hard to tell. For instance, in FL the prices tend to be high in Spring and Fall, and low in Summer and Winter, but there are bikes always for sale.

Need a break from this place. Have a good one.

I live in Colorado. Thanks for the info that helps. Hopefully I'll still be able to get something decent in spring or I can buy one over the winter.

Prices here in Jersey tend to be low in the Winter and high in the Spring. In the Winter, people are looking to get rid of em bc a lot of people don't really ride or want to switch to a different bike. And in the Spring, everyone wants to become a motorcyclist lol

"Which bike is best" depends on how you expect to use it.

Are you taking it to the track?
Are you using it for daily commuting/errands?
Are you doing long distance touring?
Will you be riding two-up?

Different tasks are better done by different tools, and this applies to bikes as well.

Bargains can be found at any time of the year. When I worked at motorcycle dealership, we'd actively purchase used bikes from private parties in the spring to resell in the dealership.

A lot of times in the fall, you get sellers who thought that riding a bike year-round would be possible. So, they got a bad loan on the bike and now they owe more on it than they paid for it.

I'd suggest looking at a wide variety of bikes and finding a great deal.

Honda anything is hard to beat. The 636 is good but has its share of problems. Although it will be a lot easier to pick up a Kawi on your budget.
