Default What does a power commander do?

Time for more newbie quesitons by none other than ...Me
Alright so i've been cruising around ebay for aftermarket parts these days and i keep seeing a thing called the "power commander". Can anyone tell me what this does? HOw it works? and what's the cheapest price i can get one for? If the price is good enough i may get it as a christmas present for my friend who rides. Oh by the way, he rides a 05 600rr. I dont know if that makes a difference or not... but hey let me know guys!! Thanks!

Powercommander = fooler box

it lies to the ecu to adjust fuel mixture according to needs from modifications

Think of it as a "chip" for a car.......only this one is "tuneable" although I hate them...........but its the deal that you get........not much in the way of doing this anyway else due to the fact that youd have to go to a much more expensive system.

At the factory the fuel injection systems on bikes are set up to work with the stock air intake and exhaust. When you modify the flow of air by adding an aftermarket filter or pipes then the air/fuel ratio is changed. Usually less restrictive upgrades are added which allow more airflow, and this can cause the engine to run lean (too much air, not enough fuel in the mixture). This is where a Power Commander comes in. It allows you to modify the fuel flow parameters in the bike's ECU so you get the proper mixture.

It's just like rejetting a carb on a non fuel-injected bike.
